Jack the Ripper Unmasked Empty Jack the Ripper Unmasked

Sun 07 Sep 2014, 11:33 am
There's an interesting story out today on how an amateur Jack the Ripper researcher looked into some evidence that most others dismissed and was able to determine the identity of the killer after 126 years using DNA testing that no one thought possible.

I remember commenting a few days ago on how problems that seem insurmountable now sometimes can be solved in the future by ways and means we can't imagine. This is a great example.

Nice idea Stan, but any material from JFK has long gone.

Thanks, Stan, great article.

Not to sound like a pathological CT or anything but I felt the article would have been a bit more convincing if it had come in a peer-reviewed publication or had not ended with a plug to "buy the book".

But perhaps that's just me.

Yes, Steely, thanks to the ever-vigilant Secret Service!

I am with Stan on this one despite the lack of material. I am thinking someone will build a bullshit detector that will signal the JFK case off the charts.
Something like this:

Jack the Ripper Unmasked BS-Detector

 Can't argue with science.

My Musketeer brothers in good form!

I guess my main point here is that you just never know where and how the big break you're looking for may come. But it will only come if you keep working, stay curious and you don't quit. And to keep your sanity while you do this, have some fun along the way. You may never reach your destination but the journey will be a hoot!

(Nice BS detector Athos!)

I remember commenting a few days ago on how problems that seem insurmountable now sometimes can be solved in the future by ways and means we can't imagine. This is a great example.
Here is a post in a lengthy thread about this on a ripper forum:
Yes let's wait till we get the full facts but I will say this now if this is true then it's case closed and this site closed.
But there is a lot of doubt about it in the discussion.

I also found this old article on the same site which shows the claim that THE shawl was allegedly tested for DNA may be a bit dodgy since THE shawl was supposedly donated to Scotland Yard's Black Museum and NOT sold privately:
http://www.casebook.org/dissertations/dst-amos.html
I would like to believe this is real because there are indeed things that could be DNA tested in this case, such as
http://www.reopenkennedycase.net/olmstead-1.html
