Boom Goes the Dynamite

Post by Stan Dane on Thu 04 Sep 2014, 8:09 am

I use the term "boom goes the dynamite" every now and then. In 2005, a Ball State University kid, Brian Collins, filled in for the regular campus sportscaster who was sick. The guy operating the teleprompter was inexperienced and accidentally fast-forwarded though the script, leaving Collins to fumble and ad-lib his way through. It was a disaster on air, but Collins hung in there and didn't give up, at one point saying "boom goes the dynamite." When I first saw this I never laughed so hard. Some call it the worst sportscast ever.

Ha! For that one brief "boom" moment, he found his mojo -- then dropped it again.

ps
I note an Aussie was leading the All-American list.

& speaking of Aussies & US sport - Watch out for a failed Aussie NFL trialist and soon-to-be-retired Rugby League player, Cory Paterson over the next couple of years as a heavyweight boxer... has yet to lace on a glove, but has announced his intention to take it up and my gut instinct is, he'll hit like a sledgehammer.
