The NYT ("Want an Easy Life? Try Canberra, Australia") cites an O.E.C.D. report that says Canberra Australia may be the best place in the world to live.

I'm about 3 hours drive from Canberra and about the same distance from the outer suburbs of Sydney.

Canberra is what you come up with when you get a bunch of economists to decide something like this.  The last trip I made to Canberra was to watch my beloved Wests Tigers play the Canberra Raiders. We led at half time and got beat. And it was freakin' freezing. 

That was in 2008. Here is a short clip from a more recent game between them with a better outcome...
