You might consider cutting one of your ears off, Jake. I'll upload the Don Mclean song that will surely follow. Wink

Now that's a good idea. The Don Mclean song that is. Cheers Steely.  Very Happy

Jake, take solace in the fact that Brian poked himself in the eye and threw his flip flops in the bin after viewing your work.

Jake, nice job!
Can you adjust woman in front of PM
She is too short to be standing on fourth step.
She would be on same step as far left woman with headscarf.

You'll be okay Jake.

Unicorn uses its horn dipped in shit to make its drawings.

But seriously can you adjust the lady in front of PM
We can see her leg is on third or fourth step.
The others on those steps are significantly 'taller'
likely as Bart has shown, hair comes just under the crossed arms.
See Bart's images for clarification.

Thanks, Ed

Thank you for the compliment Ed. I appreciate it.

Ok, so about the foot. I must be honest and confess I do not see that as a foot. At first yes, but when I study the gifs I see a play of light and shadow. I think it is a beam of light that appears on the riser of the step and also plays onto the tread below that riser. The tread is severely foreshortened because the camera is barely above it. It makes it look like a leg with a foot on it. I think it's a beam of light that sneaks in between shadows on the steps as cast by the people on the steps. The light briefly plays in between them, onto the steps, then the light gets cut back off again. The light and shadow movements have the same cadence as the motions of the people of course, and that has the effect of further enhancing the illusion of a foot and leg moving up the steps.

Just my interpretation. I understand why the perception is there, but I just don't see it the same way.
The good news is I don't see it as critical to anything as far as PM being Oswald. That's the main reason I've never even mentioned the difference of opinion before. I just don't think it matters.

I think at the top we see the inverse of the lower tread as the light shines on the horizontal surface of the next tread up. Sort of a 'Z' shape in three dimensions going along tread, riser, tread.

The two horizontal lines on your mark-up would correspond to where the riser turns 90 degrees to become the next tread.

The slanted line looks like it's because of the shape of the shadow that cuts the light off at the 'top', on the surface of the upper tread itself. It could be any angle depending on the shape of the 'aperture' the light is passing through to get to and shine on the steps.

I've read Barto's discussion of the head and hair. I have not been able to see that. I have no monopoly on what "is". Only my own honest perceptions.

But it doesn't fall on the landing or top step or tread.
You can not say it does because it goes above that edge, were it should have zag'd to fall across the landing as you contend. It doesn't.
Follow me and the 'light'?  It goes across a tread up a riser then keeps going up only stopping at an angle in the air.
There is no Z it doesn't make that third "leg" no pun intended. Wink

The hair

and leg have been demonstrated.

Now that belies the body that connects the two in several ways.

Hope your open to this important possibility Jake.

The light spilling theory needs demonstrated in a more detailed way to make a case for no hair, no leg, no person/lady blocking part of Oswald's torso.

No matter the image even without it still clarifies that it is Prayer Man not some wanker with her purse, buttons or other clap trap we have been forced to show is utter toss.

Cheers, Ed

These details may help show what I mean about light and shadow on the steps:

Cheers Ed. I agree this isn't earth shattering and I'd be happy to be convinced otherwise.

I've always thought that the whitish area was a woman's gam but Jake brings up a very good observation.

I took a sequence of the five clearest Darnell frames (relative to PM), cropped and enlarged them 500% to focus on the leg area and then made a gif.

I still lean toward this being a leg rather than a shaft of sunlight, but I could be wrong.

My (now sober) eyes tell me it's a leg too.

Hey, anyone notice a purse swinging from the arm of Prayer Woeman? I didn't either. Maybe Crazy Doyle can point it out and spend the next six months making his fucking case.

I don't know what this proves but if nothing else there are clearly no legs walking up the steps in this video. Down maybe, but not up. Smile I'm also calling attention to the shadow play on the steps. It get fairly complicated with just one person so with a crowd all sorts of complicated patterns would constantly be changing. It just looks to me like we are seeing the steps through a gap in the people at that particular location and the shadows of the people walking up nearby are animating that area with shifting shadow patterns.

Here's another with interesting shadow play:

It always looked like a leg to me. Stan’s and Vinny’s renderings seem to confirm that impression.
