On the 27th he succeeded in burning down the Reichstag, the German parliamentary building, and was apprehended there. This was the flimsy pretext for a closing down of political organizations and papers and the arrest of thousands of socialists, communists and anarchists.
Lee Harvey Oswald - Allegedly left a note threatening to blow up the FBI office, then on Nov 22 allegedly shot Kennedy. Initially treated as part of a communist plot, with some continuing to push that line.
van der Lubbe was the real deal, though his culpability in the Reichstag fire remains an open question. his bio details here: http://libcom.org/history/articles/1911-1934-marinus-van-der-lubbe
My question: are there too many coincidences here? For my part, I am particularly interested in the early years as being genuine coincidences - coincidences that were noted and made Oswald a target of certain people.
