Mail Order Weapon Purchase Empty Mail Order Weapon Purchase

Wed 04 Aug 2010, 6:24 pm
I found it was impossible for Lee Harvey Oswald to receive a mail order in post office ordered in the name of A.J. Hidell.

I do not think he could receive rifle in his PO box, since rifle is too large to be stuffed in small box use for newspapers, magazines and letters. Usually, when large sized mail order arrives, post office employees put a notification in the PO box of receiver. Receiver then receives a notification, and use it to receive his order - after ensuring the right person has arrived as receiver, a post office employee goes to storage room and retrieve a package.

So, if weapons were ordered on the name of A.J. Hidell, only A.J. Hidell could receive them in post office, and not Lee Harvey Oswald. Or, at least, Oswald should have permit from A.J. Hidell, verified by a notarius and stating that A.J. Hidell allows Lee Harvey Oswald to receive mail orders on the name of Hidell. However, I do not this was the case, since it makes no sense at all.

So, the weapon purchase by mail order seems to be very doubtful and couldn't serve as evidence, linking Oswald directly to both alleged murder weapons.

Mail Order Weapon Purchase Empty Mail order

I think the problem here is that, when people have been investigating this aspect of the case (myself included!!), we tend to focus purely on this particular order as if it is unique. In reality, what we should do is try to obtain some benchmarks i.e. other similar orders, to see if the same "failings" are present. If they are, then the Oswald order may not be quite so unique; if they are not, then we would have something more substantial on which to base our challenges.

"Benchmarks" were the whole reason for the existence of the Dodd Committee, were they not?

Also - what is people's take on the Gil Jesus thing? He had a piece on his web site for a while, about the "typeface" on the Klein's stamp, that was on the money order that Oswald/Hidell allegedly used to purchase the rifle. I can no longer find that information on his page, but he had a pic up there at one point that looked "noteworthy" if not entirely convincing, and I would have liked to see "other examples of the Klein's stamp" besides just the one he offered... but anyway.... there's still this pretty impressive summary of ideas on his page, about why the Klein's transaction was bogus. What's the community's take, and what's yours?
