First topic message reminder :

I talked to the above subject by phone and he stated that he thinks that the subject who is in custody on the murder of the president rode the same bus with him to Oak Cliff about 10 minutes after the parade was over. He saw the piture on T.V. of Lee Oswald. He rode the Bishop bus which he caught near H.L. Greens. He said the man got on somewhere near Poydras St. and said " The president has been shot and the governor has been killed". He then sat down and didn't say anything else. He said the subject was wearing a dark felt hat and a dark coat. He said the subject got off before the bus got to Bishop St. but he doesn't know exactly where.

I told the complainant that we would call him if we needed him any further.

bumping another thread that deconstructs the bus story.

This is addressed to Greg Parker, or anyone else for that matter I guess.

There are several references in this thread to a phone call from Porter Bledsoe.

Can anyone provide me with details about this supposed call?

I've been wondering why the police did not bring Mary Bledsoe in to view an Oswald lineup. As far as I can tell, Mary Bledsoe is the only person who can vouch for Oswald's whereabouts or living arrangements for the week of October 7-14, 1963. In her WC testimony, Marina testified that she didn't know anything about this Marsalis St. address.

Mrs. PAINE - Not at all. He was in the home for the weekend of October 4. I then took him to the bus around noon on the 7th, that is a Monday, to the Intercity Bus between Irving and Dallas. You can't walk to it from my house. There is no way to get anywhere from my house unless you use a car.
Mr. JENNER - How long did he remain in your home on this visit?
Mrs. PAINE - Until Monday morning, the 7th of October, almost noon, in fact, when I took him to an Intercity bus at the Irving bus station.
http://jfkassassination.net/russ/testimony/paine_r2.htm

On November 29, 1963 Marina told FBI Agents Wallace Heitman and Anatole Buguslav that she and Ruth Paine dropped Oswald off in downtown Dallas where he was going to look for a place to live.
CE1782 at (23H)390 and he called about 5:00 PM saying he had found a place near a lake.
https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=1139#relPageId=422&tab=page

In her WC testimony, Mary Bledsoe said,
Mr. BALL - Can you tell me about the first time that you ever saw him. What the date was?
Mrs. BLEDSOE - The first time I ever saw him or heard of him, I was in the backyard doing a lot of yardwork.
http://jfkassassination.net/russ/testimony/bledsoe.htm

Mr. BALL - At 3 o'clock he came to your home?
Mrs. BLEDSOE - Yes.
Mr. BALL - And then he came back the second time with the second bag before 4, did he?
Mrs. BLEDSOE - Yes; I'm sure he did.

So, he arrives at 3:00, immediately goes out and returns about 40 minutes later with a second bag, asks where a grocery store is, goes there and buys  "some peanut butter and some sardines, and some bananas and put it all in his room, except the milk, and he ate there, ate in his room. I didn't like that either."

There is nothing in there about making a phone call to Marina at 5:00.

Oswald either takes a bus from Irving at noon and shows up at 621 Marsalis at 3:00, or Marina and Ruth drop Oswald off in downtown Dallas and he goes from downtown to Oak Cliff to look for a place to live.

Somebody in here either has a faulty memory, or is lying.

Why would he question her? She had the imprimatur of the federal government.

At least we know now where Porter got it from.

And speaking of Porter...

Can you refresh my memory. I've just done a cursory check of MFF and the DPD files without finding any documents concerning Porter's alleged phone call tipping the cops about his mother.

Mary wasn't interviewed by Graves until 11/23 - same day that Odell was interviewed by the Sheriff's Office. I'm guessing Mary's interview came after Odell's, if you get my drift  Cool

Except for the clothing description, the stories are very similar. Too similar not to set off some bells - especially if the only evidence for a phone call from Porter is Mary's say-so.

There aren't any records, Greg.  We do have to make a series of assumptions that the Porter Bledsoe phone call took place.

If it didn't happen then I guess I'd be left scratching my head as to why the DPD went and dragged Cecil McWatters off his bus at 6:00pm the evening of the assassination.  I don't believe they just randomly picked a bus and driver and if it was the FBI and DPD making the story up I'm sure they'd have chosen the Beckley bus as Oswald's getaway vehicle rather than the Marsalis bus.  Remember the Beckley bus was due at the Elm Street bus stops at roughly the same time as the Marsalis bus.

McWatters affidavit has the "assassin's" altercation with the woman included in it and the reason they focused in on that aspect of the story that evening was because that was relayed to them over the phone by Porter.   I'm 100% certain the woman was Bledsoe.  I'd sincerely bet my house on it.  The simple fact of the matter is this, on Friday night they didn't need Mary Bledsoe because I'm sure they were convinced they could thumb screw McWatters into an ID.  When they didn't get it they got the next best thing; the punched transfer.  Mary was then dragged into it on the Saturday at the same time they're working out the taxi fairy tale.

IMHO, a Porter Bledsoe phone call to the DPD detailing his mother being told by a boy about the assassination before the boy went into a fit of giggles fits the rest of the story perfectly.
Steve, from the 1st page re Porter.

Just as a quick aside, I was looking around at this stuff and found out how close together Mary Bledsoe and Johnny Calvin Brewer lived.
He lived at 512 N. Lancaster and she lived at 621 N. Marsalis. The are only about one block and maybe seven houses apart.
Tippit had last reported his location as 8th and Lancaster. About two blocks from there.
Strange.
