Sol Dann was a lawyer from Michigan who came in to clean up the mess left by all the previous Ruby defense attorneys. He was scathing in his assessment of Ruby's defense and of how the system in Texas operated.
Dann quote: "We are making every effort to engage other attorney's to correct the many mistakes that have been made thus far and to properly handle this matter on appeal. This change of counsel may expose us to further embarrassment before the public but it cannot be avoided... Our difficulty is in finding a lawyer in Dallas completely free of the influence of the D.A.'s office."
He also claimed to have tapes of Officer Dean in which Dean contradicted all his major assertions during his WC testimony. He intended producing those tapes at the retrial.
As we know, no retrial turned out to be necessary, but I wonder what happened to those tapes and what was on them?
