Sorry Frankie. You can't. Poll closed. I was delusional thinking 60 days would be sufficient for plenty of votes...

Ah well, live and learn study

LOL. I live about a five and half hour drive from the nearest beach and the only time I did live within a short walk of a beach was my 10 years in Darwin. And one doesn't do the Twist on Darwin beaches. The crocs hate it. Um. No.

I really liked Desmond Dekker and Toots & the Maytels, but don't recall too much about the others. Looks an interesting list though!

Here's the Folkes Brothers Carolina

I was quite surprised when I found that Folkes Brothers song - I thought Shaggy did the original tune in 1993. However, the original by Folkes Brothers is much better, pitty that sound quality is so low.

Here is another cover of Caroline, by Count Ossie and his Rastafarians (they did a drumming in original Folkesa Brothers' song too):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsrZZEjgB2Q

However, it is already 70-ies.

The Ethiopians did a pretty good rocksteady tune named Train to Skaville:

The Upsetters - Return of Django:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_4Q2KyCr54

Max Romero - Chase the devil:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uijFctBM47M
I was pretty amazed when I found this, since I was familiar with some beats of this tune from Out of Space by The Prodigy Very Happy

Prince Buster worked as producer with Folkes Brothers and later he made some his own songs and covers.
The Madness (covered later by the band, named by this song):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZC6Ot1MLP0

Al Capone (covered later by The Specials (1979)):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDfvXrMnJu0

Rocksteady cover of Beatles' song All My Loving:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkFG5SoXsVk

And this one is brilliant, so naive and positive... and singer seems being so true - as very opposite of those men being behind conspirations like case of JKF... Jimmy Cliff - King of Kings:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpjfPOY3ujg

Sorry for infodump =)

Lucky bastard!

First concert I went to must have been good. I can't remember what it was!

My first concert was Bill Withers (Lovely Day, Summer Night in Harlem) and Tom Rush (Circle Game, No Regrets) on the Boston Common. My teenage ears were totally impressed.

My last concert was the Stones at the LA Coliseum. Man, they had Jumpin' Jack Flash down- 20 minutes' worth.

I no longer have an opinion about rock 'n roll. That's a bit suspect
