incident - The Stevenson Incident and the Assassination Empty The Stevenson Incident and the Assassination

Sun 11 Apr 2010, 10:35 pm
"No one was thinking in terms of assassination, they were thinking of spitting, striking and throwing things and the kind of indignities they had seen before. They were thinking of the President himself being harmed or insulted. They were thinking about how Dallas might best avoid another scandalous incident so soon after the previous."
Dallas Private and Public, p238 Warren Leslie

Exactly why Kennedy was NOT protected. His protectors were concentrating on avoiding another Stevenson incident. They were looking out for disrespectful placards along the streets, not disrespectful rifles pointing out of windows from on high.
--------------------------------------
"A Dallas businesswoman, who refused to be identified, said she believes she saw Oswald picketing at the scene of the Stevenson speech. He was the only one who did a military type turn. This called my attention to him," she said.
Oswald Picketed Adlai Rally in Dallas, Witnesses Say, Washington Post Dec 9, 1963

"The way he was standing it would have been in a position such as port arms in military terms."
Warren Commission Testimony of Arnold Rowland
-------------------------------------
The name of the young man who spat on Stevenson was Robert Hatfield. Stevenson refused to press charges, although he was still charged and fined over spitting on a police officer. Hatfield blamed being revved up by Cubans before the incident. His flatmate, Ivan Hornesly was evidently a friend of John Thomas Masen and some of the Cubans who hung out on Harlendale. His lawyer was Howard P White. White's name was on Jack Ruby's phone list as kept by Larry Crafard.

White had been an assisstant DA to Henry Wade - as had Ruth Paine's divorce lawyer, Louise Raggio. Another lawyer from the same office as White, William McKenzie, became the legal representative of Marina Oswald.

A photo of Hatfield is in the gallery. He bears some resemblance to Oswald - though there is no suggestion he was the person doing "military turns". Whoever that was should be considered a suspect in the assassination due to the similar behavior noted by Rowland.

Are there any photos of the Stevenson rally which might show this individual doing his catwalk military turns?

Greg,

How much thought have you given to the possibility that it was Larry Crafard who was the Oswald lookalike doing military manoeuvres at the Stevenson rally? According to both his FBI interview and his testimony, Crafard was in Dallas at the time of the Rally.

http://www.aarclibrary.org/publib/jfk/wc/wcvols/wh25/pdf/WH25_CE_2250.pdf

Go to page 15 of his testimony.

On a sidenote, Ruth Paine was shown photos of Crafard; and even she had to admit that there was a resemblance to Oswald.

In CE 455, you can see the exact moment Belin instructs Crafard,
"Now we want you to pretend you're Joaquin Phoenix."

Crafard back to Belin: "Okay. But I'm not doing River. I need Joaquin's emotional range. Jack only let me do Cagney."

I actually hadn't considered that, Hasan. This stuff on the Stevenson incident preceded my interest in Crafard (which is Lee's doing). A while back I would have said Crafard didn't strike me as the kind of guy to go around as if still being drilled by his sergeant. Not so sure now, given the further research undertaken - now on balance, I'd still maybe lean against it, but without dismissing it outright.

Anyone else think there is a certain similarity between Larry's jacket and CE 162 (allegedly Oswald's grey jacket)? Not identical - but similar enough to be the same manufacturer perhaps?

Californian  journalist Mark Groubert believes they are from the same maker - Maurice Holman. Mark believes CE 162 belonged to Crafard and that after Nov 22, he simply went out and bought another Maurice Holman to replace it. His research suggests that Holman jackets were very popular among the young gay set... without going in depth into all of Mark's research and arguments, he made a pretty good case.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Greg. Now if I were to say that Crafard was carrying the MC rifle with him when he was picked up by Ralph Yates, a lot of people would probably say that's stupid. But that's assuming that anyone involved in the conspiracy to murder the President is not insane to a certain degree.
