an ode to the quest

Post by Terry W. Martin on Fri 08 Aug 2014, 12:47 am

At the R O K C
(to the tune of "Seventeen" by Janice Ian)

I learned the truth at Deep Foo Foo
though it may not seem like truth to you
where the doppelgangers ramble free
and trample unaware doubters like me.

I learned the truth at Duncan's forum
where von Pein and Dear Bob make a quorum
and play the WC's worthless trump card
while hoisted on their own petard.

They all play the game and when you dare
to act like you're not unaware
they invent points that have no use
they heap on more good old abuse
and leave you shaking your head like me
yearning for something like the sanity
to be found at the R O K C.

I learned the truth at Simkins' place
where all the good threads become erased
seems it takes more than truth to set you free
and to keep you from being a moderatee.

They all stack the deck and if you complain
they void your password and username
and loud-mouthed boors get to run amok,
whine when called liars or similar stuff,
and cannot understand any geometry
of shapes with more sides than three
like those found at the R O K C.

I learned the truth at Burnham's house
where the members trod meek as a mouse
and try to avoid the master's eye
by praising Evica-Drago to the sky.

They build their case on Evica-Drago blocks
and anyone not doing so, they mock;
its not really how it seems...

They all play their games and (when they dare)
they twist the truth 'cause they don't care
for any other's point of view
that doesn't match the one they use.
But those with more discerning tastes
will surely find a more relaxing place
among those ignored with regularity,
unconcerned by the posturing,
posting at the R O K C.

Coming to ROKC is like listening to the golden oldies on the radio sometimes.
I'd take Janice over a cheerleader every day.

Any musos among us? I think we have enough material for an album.

The whole ROKC thing was a happy accident, btw.

I had originally tried to register the main site as REOPENJFKCASE.NET but mistakenly believed it hadn't worked -- so changed it to REOPENKENNEDYCASE.NET. ROJFKC just doesn't have the same ring...  Smile

IMO, ROKC sounds a lot better than ROJFKC.
