Dillard Dillema

Post by Ed. Ledoux on Wed 18 Jan 2017, 9:35 am

Dillard VS. Powell: The Final Showdown,

In a google group thread Walt Cakebread claimed that the Powell photo was before Dillard's photo's,
and he made a series of arguments to support this claim.

They are:

1) Jet Vapor Trail is Present in Dillard doesn't yet appear in Powell.

Can someone please post the highlighted jet vapor trail??
I don't seem to be able to locate an image with a contrail.

2) The poor location for photographing the president or even glimpse of the motorcade from such a position.

James W. Powell was on duty, per Jones. What function did he serve at that location.

3) The sunlight on the "vertical strip along west edge of sixth floor window" is wider in Powell.
Would that not make the sun farther West, ie later than Dillard rather than before Dillard. (Sorry meant shadow, measuring the wider shadow not a sun lit strip like Walt suggests)
A study with the best available photos would help discern how much shadow movement took place and give a better time estimate than the '30 seconds before Dillard' one given.
NOTE the hightlighted area is not the vertical strip, it can be ignored.

4) Doris Burns statements of entering Steven Wilson's office and Steven still sitting in his chair till he stands to look from the window narrow the time line significantly. See Hughes film and Jim Murray photo.
Powell photo should show "two women" in the room away from Wilson's office window and no Wilson standing.

5) The difference in position of Williams, Jarman, Norman.

See Rearranged Boxes.
https://reopenkennedycase.forumotion.net/t453-the-rearranged-boxes

I think that thread alone asked some serious questions about W/J/N

Has anyone listened to the two hour audio of Jarman and his cousin Irma whom was standing on Elm?

6) Pigeons

Walt claims there are pigeons in both Dillard an Powell.

"The Dillard photo shows the flock of pigeons bursting from the back of the Hertz sign"
"While in the Powell photo there are only a couple of pigeons in sight"

I am very interested in Walt's having seen pigeons in these photos.
Would you all please show me where the flock are the birds?
Walt claims they are seen by the Hertz sign in the wide angle Dillard shot using a Leica 28mm? Lens vs the telephoto lens on his other camera.

7) Rifle Protrusion

Claim is the Powell photo has a rifle barrel sticking out the window of the sixth floor before the actual shooting so as the military will have a photo for the press of the assassins weapon seen in the window.
The claim is this happens during the ambulance/seizure episode when crowds attention is drawn to the fainting Belknap and medical transport.

As an aside;
Below is Jerry Belknap in 1961 a Sophomore University Texas at Arlington - Reveille

And above is Jerry as a Senior in 1965 at UT Arlington. Pictures are worth a thousand words, guy looks thin, lost his vision and its taken him 6 years to get a BA degree and moved from Irving to Southmayd. Must be his condition.

To conspire with Jerry to have a fainting spell and plan to snap a photo of a rifle whilst hoping no one would draw attention to or call authorities to that window would be a coordinated plan of good fortune.
One I do not subscribe to.
Claim is the Powell photo shows a rifle protruding ... an idea of Groden & Livingstone via High Treason and a blurry image.
(But I still would like to know if there exists an photos of the episode or ambulance on scene.)

Thanks! Ed

Good call, Ed. For the record, Jerry was not epileptic. He had another condition brought on by a car accident.

Re pigeons. There are dots in the second photo that could be anything, including flaws from processing.

The list of interviews is fantastic. And who knows what is on the one with Jarman? Are they available?

Thanks Greg,
The clear image on top of Dillards relegates any pigeon story to the dust bin.
Any confusion must be based on the less clear image below it, though how is Baker confusing specks for pigeons, .... he surely isn't waiting for poor images to make up his account?

"Just as I approached Elm Street and Houston I heard three shots. I realized those shots were rifle shots and I began to try to figure out where they came from. I decided the shots had come from the building on the northwest corner of Elm and Houston."

Baker would need to give a reason why he picked that building out,
an reason he did not mention in his affidavit.
His excuse was fowl.

IDK ? dead ends
We had bits of it in a transcript, but for the whole audio recording to be listened to or made a copy would be a NARA chore.

The page that covers this says:

Accession No.
NC3 -233 -80 -1
Internal transfer from NNFN
Jan. 1981

So the audio or av went to NNFN which transfered them to NARA?
What is NNFN you ask?

Thanks Ed. I was having a seniors moment. Those are the HSCA tapes some of which we the audio and transcripts for already.

Unless I'm actually having a seniors moment now. In which case, this post will self-destruct in 5 minutes.

Seniority aside, I would like to hear Irma's recollection.
Jarman"s transcript says it is 18 pages.
How many do we have?
