Another plausible explanation of the Name Hidell

Post by greg parker on Mon 27 Mar 2017, 12:20 pm

Recently resurrected at the Ed Forum was a thread I'd missed seeing the first time around. It points out that "Hidd el" is Hungarian for "believe in". I did an online translation and it came out as "trust me". I guess one of those translations is more literal and one more colloquial.

It has always been my contention that if the fake surname has some hidden meaning, then the first names probably do as well. With that in mind...

Alex/Alec/Alik (Alexander) means "defender of man"

James means "supplant" or "replace" and/or a reference to King James... target of the Gunpowder Plot featuring Guy Fawkes.

-----------------------------------------

Not making any claims here. Just pointing out yet another possibility.
