Very interesting video, especially around 28:40 when Dr. Ronald Jones talks about Arlen Specter.

So how and on what basis did Arlen Specter and Co decide that witnesses to frontal assassins were not credible?

Just finished watching this excellent interview. Dr. McClelland clearly describes a large wound in the lower right rear of JFK's head, yet Dr. Jones seems reluctant to support him. When Dr. Jones was speaking about the massive injury to the right forward part of JFK's skull seen on the Zapruder film, I was praying that the interviewer would ask him if he or anyone else at Parkland had seen this wound.

What I found intriguing was that McClelland consistently described a wound low down in the right rear of the skull but also said that when he and the other doctors viewed the autopsy photographs at the National Archives they all agreed that the photos showed what they had seen. Now that's a weird contradiction!

I wish the interviewer had asked McClelland how he could have seen a large hole low down on the back of the skull when at least part of the area he was talking about would seemingly not be visible when JFK was on his back.

Martin, that question was asked of him during his telecom interview at the Wecht conference, and he insisted he was able to see that portion of the head; he said he was looking at the wound for over 10 minutes.

It is interesting to me that the more frontal description (from Parkland witnesses) came out later.

I haven't had a chance to view this yet ... will try later today.

P.S., compliments on the family photo.

Thank you, Albert. I do have a beautiful wife and son - I am a very lucky man!

Did Dr. McClelland say what position the head was lying in?

And was he asked about the autopsy photos?

I cannot reconstruct exactly how he answered the head question, except that I know your concern was an issue, and he addressed it without hesitating about his conviction.

As for the autopsy photos, my recollection escapes me as to whether he was asked about this ... I would imagine he was, but I only saw the last half of the transmission (I was out in the corridor talking to Mantik, I believe, about the talk he had just given).   I wonder if the McClelland interview is/was available on the DVD from the conference.

It does occur to me that the doctors went through this in 1988 (on Nova), and that's when the contradiction first arose.  Since then, I cannot say I have tracked their responses for consistency on this.  But I've always considered this paradox similar to Perry's retraction of the original "entrance" statement for the throat.  I have the impression they just do not want to bear the onus of stating in public that the photos -- at least the back of head photo -- is wrong, or at least misleading.  But that's my take, FWIW.
