Evidence of missing LILYRIC photos, & codes for Sov officers Empty Evidence of missing LILYRIC photos, & codes for Sov officers

Wed 02 Apr 2014, 10:31 am
I found two versions of this "LLYRIC log", a journal created by the CIA about the "comings and goings" of Kostikov at the Soviet embassy.  Times are given, apparently when he is caught on the LILYRIC camera.

Also found a key to Station Coding of Soviets in LILYRIC Reporting - will enable us to track Sov officers' movements...
https://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=52199&relPageId=46
https://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?mode=searchResult&absPageId=466831 (unredacted)

Knowing about Kostikov's actions on Sept 27-28 may lead to Oswald.  Any photos of Kostikov on Sept. 27 or Sept 28, the days he supposedly met with Oswald in person or on the phone?

LILYRIC photos were supposedly destroyed by the CIA.  These logs enable us to determine what times they were in  operation, which was apparently Mondays-Fridays, 9 am-3 pm.

The only reference to days of the week (Saturday-Sunday) can be  found on page 10.  See pages 9-11.

9 is October

http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=52198&relPageId=74 (redacted version)

10 is the end of September and October.  Refers to "KOS".
Notice how Kostikov is only recorded for the 30th of Sept.
The 28th and  29th are handwritten in, but no sighting of Kostikov
Notice how the rest of Sept has been skipped over!

http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=52198&relPageId=75 (redacted version)

11 Last entry for sighting Kostikov is 8/19.  No records for sighting Kostikov again until Sept 30, are pages missing?
http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=35407&relPageId=11
http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=52198&relPageId=76 (redacted version)

Kostikov was out of town from Sept. 1-13.  There is a memo about Sept. 26, but it's in Spanish and I
can't read it.

The key files are in Reel 9 https://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/docset/getList.do?docSetId=1125

Anyone interested in helping me analyze these files?

Bill,

K was absent for part of Sept, as you've indicated elsewhere. Are we certain he was not absent for more than just a short period?

Where do you stand on his alleged association with Dept D (or whatever it was that carried out assassinations and other mayhem)?

Evidence of missing LILYRIC photos, & codes for Sov officers Empty Re: Evidence of missing LILYRIC photos, & codes for Sov officers

Greg,

Whether Kostikov was gone for longer than Sept 1-13 is one of the things I'm trying to button down.  I did see a 9/21/63 memo on the aforementioned Reel 9 that says that he wasn't in the embassy/consulate on that day; that's one of the reasons I need to translate the 9/26/63 memo.

In Chapters 5-6 of State Secret I walk through the evidence from both FBI  and CIA officials - finally even Angleton himself, in 1976 - admitting there's no evidence Kostikov had anything to do with the assassinations unit Dept. 13.  In fact, the evidence is that Dept. 13 itself stopped doing assassinations by 1961.

I found a photo essay from 10/24/63 (Log Film 150) showing photos of all the Soviet officers,
but this copy is no good, I'm looking for a better one.

The below photos show why this info is important.  We now have a key to decipher much of the photos.

Photos 9-13 below are the famous October 2 photos of the Mystery Man, famously described as Oswald's connection
which was not the case but made up by Goodpasture pretending that these photos were taken on October 1.

Photos 6 and 7, which can be blown up to show greater detail here --
https://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=4490&relPageId=3,
taken minutes earlier, are of "LEON and 2 URM (unknown Russian men)".

The HSCA members Some have said that
LEON looks like Oswald.  Now this "LILYRIC key" provides proof that LEON is Nikolai Leonov, Third Secretary, a major player, still alive and until recently a member of the Russian Parliament.

We now have more info to decipher these photos.

Thanks Bill. I knew I'd read a piece somewhere recently putting a convincing case regarding no connection to Dept 13. Too much rattling around between the ears, but it was obviously in your book that I'd read it.

You could try typing the Spanish words into google and letting it give you a translation. It may not be 100% but should give some clues at least.
