I might be slightly wrong there regarding Mr Purvis - I think he subscribed to a fragment of the bullet from the head shot having caused the JBC wrist injury only...

Fun fact, the FBI waited to ask the Connally family if they could remove the fragments from the late governor's wrist until they were at his graveside service. Understandably they said no (and one suspects that's what the Bureau wanted them to say).

Apparently a staff DOJ lawyer on his own time had written a memo up the chain explaining the importance of removing those bullet fragments (would they match magic bullet, would they exceed missing weight from fired bullet, etc). DOJ brass determined they didn't have jurisdiction to seek a federal court order-- which is silly, of course, even if that was true they could have simply asked the Dallas DA to get a state court order.  Instead they directed the FBI to ask Connally's family for permission to remove the fragments from his body.

By accident or happenstance, they did it in such a way that Connally's survivors told them to get lost. So add "exhume Connally's body to remove bullet fragments" to the to-do list (in addition to compelling Frazier to identify people shown in Prayer Man photo to grand jury, releasing all classified files & exhuming Kennedy's body for a second autopsy).

In other words, the Justice Department did what it wanted to do, coming up with the legal reasoning of third graders in this case. Surprise, surprise. If it had been important to pin blame on Oswald, they would have had those fragments out in a flash, Connally family feelings be damned.

I stick by my earlier sarcastic comments about the US legal system. If somebody with power wants something done, they'll get it done. If they don't want to do something, they don't. Laws rarely stand in their way. Laws are for the little guys to keep, if the poor dumb bastards can. Laws are for the powerful to disregard, especially if they're in government. Because what are you going to do, sue them? Bwahahahah!

To Do List (so far):

  • Release all JFK files. This includes Oswald files too.
  • Get Frazier to comment on Prayer Man snapshot under oath. While we're at it, make him take a polygraph.
  • Exhume JFK and do a proper autopsy
  • Exhume Connally and dig out those fragments
  • Exhume anybody else that needs checking.
  • Have Mr. Spock do a Vulcan Mind Meld with Marina to see what's buried in her head.
Please excuse my cynical mood. It will pass.

I don't know, Stan. It could be the cynical mood that creates the best humor.

And if we start to take this thing seriously... oh, the therapy we'll need!!

Bwahahahah!
