News reports of JFK shooting

Dear fellow researchers,

I am currently working on something, and I need a bit of help. Could someone please tell me when the first news report that there were three spent shell casings discovered on the 6th floor of the TSBD was made; meaning, the day and the approximate time it was first aired.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

In Part 9 of the WFAA JFK Assassination youtube collection, J. Herbert Sawyer states to a reporter that "we found some empty  rifle shells" while being interviewed in front of the Book Depository. This occurs at 6:40 of the youtube clip. Based upon the WFAA collection starting at  12:45 Central Standard Time, my guesstimate is that Sawyer's statement was given at about 2:10 CST.

Hasan may correct me, Richard, but I think he's looking for the first mention of (specifically) 3 shells.

Thanks for that, Richard. I don't believe I've ever seen that footage before. But Greg is right, I am looking for the first mention of three spent shell casings being discovered on the 6th floor.

In Part 15 of the WFAA collection at about 0:40, a news broadcaster states that "three spent shells were found nearby". Again, guesstimating 10 minutes per episode, and starting at 12:45, this information was broadcast about 3:15 CST. The announcer seems to me somewhat matter-of-fact in stating this, and maybe this information had been broadcast previously somewhere. It may even have been broadcast previously in this WFAA collection, since I skipped along to try to catch relevant segments. So you may want to doublecheck this collection when you have time.

Thanks so much, Richard. At about the 10.15 mark of the footage you linked to, Jay Watson reports "Connally's pulse and blood pressure reported alright, at 2:30 pm." So I think we can safely say that the broadcast of three spent shell casings was made after that time.
 
P.S On the "Review of Destiny Betrayed" thread, I wrote that Jim Di said thank you for your review of his book. I didn't know if you already read it, so I just thought I'd mention it here.

I did read of that thank you from Jim DiEugenio; that's nice to hear and good for you for relaying that. Jim really delivered in the clutch for the 50th with Destiny Betrayed. I'm flabbergasted to hear he's working on another book. 

I regard him the way the Sioux warriors of the Great Plains in the late 1800's regarded the great Hunkpapa chief Sitting Bull- who was known as Big Medicine, and the chief among chiefs. I have a habit of reading just about all his posts at the Ed Forum and Deep Politics and enjoy his direct style.

No problem, Richard. Writing his new book is what's preventing him from joining this forum right now. He said he'll join once he's done though. Can't wait.
