interview

Had an interview with a journalist from my local paper earlier today.

Am hopeful she will do a good job - at least she was genuinely interested and had at least a little knowledge of the subject.

With any luck, this will be the debut of PM in mainstream media.

The paper is part of a major media company, so there is a chance, however slim, that the story will get picked up by the company's major city papers.

The journalist just emailed to say she is holding the story over for a couple of days to make it a feature, rather than a regular news story.

Have had further exchanges with the journalist. I've learned enough to never get my hopes raised too high, but at the moment, it looks like PM will be a part of it. I suspect she was heading toward a human interest angle with me at the center. I hoped by introducing PM to her, it can veer away from me and put the spotlight where it belongs. She seemed genuinely enthusiastic and did ask very sensible and insightful questions.

Speaking of PM, I wonder what Sean Murphy has been up to these past 4-5 months. I've been hoping that he may be working on a book or something to formally publish his ideas. Anyone know?

I was hoping if this bit of publicity grows legs, it may entice him away from the Irish bogs again! It is Sean who really should be the one taking questions and laying it all out - not just because it's his baby but because no one can spell it out quite so elegantly as the man himself.

Good luck Greg. Has anyone heard from Sean? I hope he is ok, haven't seen him post for quite some time.

Thanks everyone. This morning's paper flagged that the story is coming later in the week. 

I wouldn't worry too much about Sean just yet. This follows past patterns of inactivity followed by his re-emergence armed to the teeth with goodies.

Fantastic! I can't wait for a link. I loved your interview on Black Op. (Listened to it three times actually. The second time to catch the bits I missed with the kids asking me for things and the third to jot down notes to look up after. Very enlightening.
P.s, you don't sound like I assumed you would (cold was undetectable).

Ha! I don't sound like I think I sound, either. Glad you liked it, though.  

Cold was in it's infancy... took a stranglehold later that day.

Not in today's paper. She's either been ordered to pull it, or it will be in Saturday.

Hopefully it will be the latter.

Unless, of course, the MSM has extended their reach to even small towns.

Just got a call from the journalist to clarify a couple of things - she is still working on the story.

Greg, i'm hoping as i guess you are that she is having a good look at, what for the media, should be a game changer. There is a large degree of courage needed for any journalist, provincial or national to rock the boat. Good luck.

yeah, that's what i'm hoping. I've given her two exclusive scoops. What I'd like to see is other papers pick her story up. Have also sent similar info to some of Australia's biggest "name" journalists (both print and TV). This was arranged through a third party and they agreed to be contacted  by me. Not too sure what to expect from those contacts... but nothing ventured...

The story made it in today.

On the upside

• it is a serious piece
  
• PM has made his debut
  

On the downside, there are some factual errors - though none that do any real harm

• States I have been at this since my teens
  
• States the book made it to number 2 on amazon - it did - #2 in "hot new releases on US history" on the Australian version of Amazon... which isn't quite the same as #2 overall...
  
• States I have proof of who set Oswald up... which is not quite accurate (though in retrospect, I may have given her that impression)... what I have is a case against an individual.  Actually more than one individual.  
  
• States I said Tippit was an unrelated incident - what I said was that it "may" be unrelated. 
  

Overall, I have to say I'm happy with it. She has got the PM story down pat and did include the frame with PM circled.
