Jimmy Burt's Criminal Record

I was doing some digging on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s criminal database and pulled up a few backgrounds.  Jimmy Burt’s death in a car crash in 1983 seems plausible after viewing his convictions.  If anyone is interested, I also pulled Bruce Carlin and Andrew Armstrong, both of whom have arrests, and will be happy to post them.  I’ll post comments at the end.  Here is the late Mr. Burt’s record:

I may have lost count but I believe that is SIX arrests for driving under the influence!  Considering the record, it is no surprise Burt died in a car crash in 1983- my guess is that he could possibly have been drinking.  Now, that is just conjecture, of course. 

My how times have changed!  Today Texas stacks DWIs.  The first one is a class B misdemeanor, the second a class A misdemeanor, and all subsequent DWIs are third degree felonies with a possible 2-10 year sentence.  From what I have read, nearly ten percent of the Texas prison population are felony driving while intoxicated offenses. 

Burt only did time in prison on the larceny charge from March of 1968 and was confined from 6/5/70 to 4/1/71 when he was discharged on that offense (no parole). Interesting, one MONTH after being released he went out and got another DWI!  I guess I'd pull a bender too after getting out.  It also seems that went easy on that neglecting/abandoning a child charge. 


Mr. Carlin’s arrest backs up what previous posts have alluded to.  Namely, that he was delivering more that “sundries” to those hotels in New Orleans and Houston but that is for another thread.

Can you get Charles Givens and Eddie Piper's records?

One or both should have drugs and/or gambling records.

Depending on how that pans out, it may help identify an otherwise unnamed employee from an early, intriguing story.
