Trucker Spotted Lee in SFLR
Thu 25 Apr 2019, 4:31 pm
According to Ken Duvall he was a trucker whom made stops at TSBD, and on 11/22 claimed to see Lee Oswald in The Second Floor Lunchroom.
From Oral History Collection SFM
KEN DUVALL
A truck driver with Central Motor Freight in Dallas, DuVall frequently picked up shipments of textbook boxes at the loading dock of the Texas School Book Depository. On November 22, 1963, he allegedly saw Lee Harvey Oswald in the second-floor lunch room approximately thirty minutes before the assassination. Recorded May 6, 2009.
I looked for him unsuccessfully to interview him.

Kenneth Boyd DuVall was born on February 7, 1931 in Russellville Arkansas to the late Walter and Cordelia DuVall. He met his wife of 62 years, Ina Jane Story, in Bixby Oklahoma where she was a bank teller. They married in December 1949 and during Kenneth’s enlistment in the US Navy, spent several years living in San Diego California. After his discharge, they decided to make their way back home to Arkansas and spent the night in Dallas. Waking up the next morning they found the weather to remind them of San Diego, so they decided to stick around and see what Dallas had to offer. They never made it back to Arkansas and spent the rest of their years living in the Dallas area. Their first home was in Farmers Branch, followed by a move north to Carrollton. In 1965 their daughter Teresa Jane was born.
Kenneth worked as a truck driver for Central Freight Lines from 1954 until 1982. He received numerous safe driving awards and accumulated 25 years of accident free driving.

Ed, I wouldn't worry about missing an interview with him. All those that quote his alleged sighting of Oswald in the 2nd floor lunchroom at about noon, leave out his other claims. When you see them, you'll understand why. On top of the Oswald sighting, we have...Ed. -Claims he saw a man on the Grassy Knoll who looked like a railroad worker who had
got out of a black car with what Duvall thought was a rifle concealed
inside his coveralls.
-Claims he himself was watching the parade while SITTING on the third step of the
depository.
The Oswald sighting is at least possible. He did go up for his coke before the assassination and possibly closer to noon that 12:30.
There was no black car showing in any films were he claimed it
was - let alone any other witnesses seeing someone in coveralls carrying a
concealed rifle. on top of that, no one on the steps recalled any
strangers and there is no one in the pics we have who could actually be him.
Given those facts, there is no real reason to give his Oswald in the lunchroom story any credence either, except to note it was possible.

Not buying the noon lunchroom story.
But I had hoped to gain more insight into deliveries at TSBD.
See if he knew anyone else at the Tsbd.
Etc.
Was he related to Officer Marvin Duvall ( or Robert)
I would have been polite and recorded every inflection.

If he wasnt a stranger but a delivery guy I can see it not register on anyones radar.
Yet for him to claim he and Lee were both in the SFLR is a tallllll tale. None of the office workers mentioned him grabbing a coke or candy bar, as someone who could support their lunch room fantasies wouldn't he be mentioned...
I dont believe his luncheon encounter was possible.

Some parts of his story ring true.
He was with the freight co. during the event.
I believe he did make deliveries to the TSBD.
That's all I got...
Without his documentation or corroboration of this specific day its a great oral history, nothing more.
Hence the hunt for him after his 2009 oral history became public.
Alas too late, his tale got overly elaborated.
And we know the whole third step was occupied by a 300 pounder.
Cheers,
Ed

Well, yeah, there is that. You have the knack for drawing more out than anyone bargains for... not least the interviewee....

Ed,
I have a possible lead on this guy. Need to confirm a few things first though.

Phil digging that address out helps a lot.
2008-09 - an interesting couple of years. It was the period that Sean Murphy started supporting and promoting around all of the forums, the falsity of the 2nd floor encounter. It was also when Ken Duvall came forward placing Oswald in the 2nd floor lunchroom, as well as placing himself on the steps and talking about a mysterious car and a man hiding a rifle in his coat.
To me, it looks an awful lot like someone trying to add support to a faltering official account, while also trying to divert attention from what was happening in that building and getting the attention back on theorizing about spooky snipers on the knoll. Gotta keep those wheels spinning!
It would be interesting to listen to the 6FM oral history with him to find out what excuse he had for not coming forward in 63/64.
