This is a very important, enlightening document showing the chaos and the rumors being spread in those early hours.barto wrote:Ths document is from Nov 22nd. Thanks to Malcolm Blunt.

But more than that, it clarifies something for me.
It seems to confirm that even though they were looking for Tippit's killer in Oak Cliff, they believed they had captured the assassin (claiming even in those early hours that he matched the general suspect description from DP - which is a stretch). And this goes back to the original call/s about a suspect in the TT being related to a JFK suspect, not a Tippit suspect.

How tidy Given's description is....
And yes the Shanklin doc is a bit of a banger.

Thanks for posting Bart, The timeline in these events has always been interesting. Although I've read that Police transcript many times before the timeline is notable. If I'm reading this correctly Givens description is aired at about 1.46pm-1.47pm. It is clear they wished to have him picked up at least that's what I glean from the wording in the dispatch message. It's clear at least to my mind that the police were still looking for suspects at 1.47pm. It really does paint the picture of the confusion and possibly the chaos surrounding the case at that moment. Someone in the Dallas police force was not so confused IMO. At around 1.47pm that someone knew enough to have the TT surrounded and have an army of cops bust in through the front and rear entrances, to arrest an unsuspecting Patsy. Speculation of course.
