“[Reporters] John Schoellkopf and Joe Sherman were saying they heard a policeman had been shot in Oak Cliff, but I didn’t want to go out there. I wanted to stay where the action was. I didn’t connect the police shooting with the assassination.”

Later in the day, Times Herald city editor Ken Smart got a lead on the killer’s address and sent Payne to 1026 N. Beckley to gather information on the assassin, known to his neighbors as O.H. Lee.

“It was a rooming house, and I spoke to roomers staying there and to the manager and the owner and her husband. They described him as a standoffish sort of person who got on the telephone and spoke in a foreign language — they thought it was German or Russian. They didn’t know who he was talking to, but it must have been Marina [his Russian-born wife.] They said he didn’t mix and mingle with the rest of them in the evening when they watched TV in the living room during the six weeks he was there. On the radio, I later heard he’d been identified as Lee Harvey Oswald, and he’d spent time in Russia.”

In my opinion, I think Sean Murphy (or Bart Kamp whoever it was) finding that guy in the doorway, which is pretty dark back in there and probably needed to be lightened in Photoshop, was a pretty amazing discovery because the figure is not readily noticeable.

Hi Greg, thanks for your reply. I feel I have contributed. Not a lot but I have. I made what I think is an outstanding photo illustration of the autopsy wounds that's very convincing. And I have offered a lot of push back to the flakes and nuts who hover around this case. I think that should be of some value. Of course, not a lot like you have and others have.

I read that article you posted here and in the comments you said something like "You're welcome to a copy of it" to the author of the article so I had assumed that you were giving free copies away. That's why I reached out to you about a free copy. I'm sorry you've not made your money back on the work you put into it. I know that feeling - I did some work for Jim DiEugenio free a few years back. You can see it on his website, including the promo ad I made for him. He wasn't even going to do anything for the JFK100 event and I hounded him that he should. So I made the promo for him as well as put the presentations together as well.

Then, I had found out through second-hand information that he was going to be at Dulles to present Vietnam with Oliver Stone. He knew I lived a few miles away and I would have loved to have gone to the presentation and met him. He also knew I was deaf and require ASL interpreters for public events like this. But he never even bothered to offer an invitation for me to go to the Dulles event after I had been doing this volunteer work for him.

The funniest thing of all is when he was earning his MA degree at CSUN he was on campus with one of the largest deaf communities in the U.S.

Anyway, rambling aside, I know what it feels like to put in effort with little or no reward. I guess the only way to make money related to this case is to go over to the dark side with Posner and Myers, or to have gotten started real early before the JFK movie came out like flakey Dave Lifton did. Once Stone's JFK came out, all bets were off and the conspiracy community was put over into the kooks and krazies corner.

Let me be clearer. The offer was made in the hope they would like what I wrote and use their high profiles to help publicize what we are trying to do here. 

Would love to make money as a writer, but not especially from the assassination. Just breaking even is the aim with that. I ended up putting all my main research for volume 3 on the web for free when I thought I'd never recover enough to write it. 

Sorry you feel that you were screwed over by Jim. I've had my share of arguments with him, but what you describe does sound out of character. I think you need to air those grievances with him, if you haven't already.
