The Sound of Silence

Any thought that the song is ABOUT the assassination is based on a misreading of what has recently bee stated in the media.
The article being quoted simply says "Their song 'The Sound of Silence' from the aftermath of President Kennedy’s assassination.
In other words it's saying it came from that period - not that it was about the assassination.
The Vancouver Sun put it slightly differently, and possibly a bit more clearly: "written amid the turmoil after the assassination of then-U.S. President John F. Kennedy"
Wiki cites the "aftermath" quote above be referencing Simon & Garfunkel: The definitive Biography
At best, you might conclude from the above that the song lyrics and mood were affected by the atmosphere post-assassination - but not that the song was actually "about" the assassination.
Hopefully JFKFacts (where the misunderstanding seems to have originated) will fix the error.
