a reminder
Fri 24 Nov 2023, 1:40 pm
The forum will be locked for new posts sometime over the next 4 to 6 weeks. Not going to be more precise than that, cos... not a corporation, nothing on the line or needing a deadline. Plus I can be slack sometimes, not to mention forgetful.
The site will remain up indefinitely (depending on the life span of forumotion, not my own) , so if anyone has thoughts of getting stuff up for future use by those following us, now is the time.
After that, if you get desperate, there is the land of the giant heads you can join, or the forum at my personal site which maintains a jfk section.

Greg, forgive me if you've addressed this already, but is there a scenario by which the forum could continue as is, with new posts allowed? Would donations help?

Jonathan, thanks for asking. The forum is completely free.
I could leave it open, but someone would need to take over the admin. But even if someone would do that, I would still close it. I had a mission with the site and fell short. Sites like the Ed Forum can stay open indefinitely, keep spinning wheels and pretending they are doing something meaningful, but that's just not me.
I do have 4 offline JFK projects I am working on.
Those projects all have the same aim as this place. They may fail to launch. They may launch but miss the target. Or one of more may just make the difference I am looking for. Whatever the outcomes, I'll be in the garden, or watching a good movie after that.

Well, I would humbly urge (beg?) members here to at least consider joining the Education Forum -- if for no other reason than to introduce some much-needed voices of reason to the proceedings.

But if the task was to exonerate Oswald and get the murder reopened, Greg, you haven't "fallen short". Not yet. Think back to the sorry state of the discourse when you started this place (less than 10 years ago, wasn't it?) amid incessant lies and virtually complete control of information by the MSM gatekeepers. And compare it to today.
I'll spare you a list of possibilities I see emerging, but the MSM is crumbling as gatekeepers, replaced by many new outlets, despite to fevered attempts at the moment to censor them. Talbott just pointed out that instead of writing up the usual lies on another anniversary, the NY Times was *totally silent* this time. He said they "realized if it was forced to comment, it would have to at long last tell the truth". Well, maybe not that exactly, but it's apparently real, if small, progress.
It was you a few years ago who mentioned that Darnell and Wiegman were JFK records that belonged at NARA, that sent me on a journey to better understand the JFK Act and the possibilities for a break in the case. That case has now been in the courts for a year, and while the judge is awful, there are still chances for something good coming out of it.
I can understand that the garden is beckoning (tho I think I'm older than you), and I don't begrudge you some fatigue, mental if not physical (I think back to Sean Murphy's abrupt disappearance) but...where else can I keep track of what Bart Kamp is doing fercrissakes?.
What about replacing yourself with a small committee of members to handle administration? Spreading the task around a bit, among what seems to me to be a relatively homogeneous group that needs little oversight. Correct me if I'm wrong, but admining this place isn't that difficult is it? You don't spend your time policing threads and interfering with discussions like the mods do at EF.

Roger, I started this in 2009. It has already lasted longer than I intended.
You may well be older. Some in the core group are, as well. But as George said, all things must pass. This is not about age. It is part of a process. And that's a comment I am not about to attempt to explain because it can't be. If you explain magic, it is no longer magic. If you find out the true name of God, the world ends. Beware the man selling how to understand women. He is either taking your money for nothing, or ruining the joy of a long slow learning curve.
I would suggest the best way forward for those who want to continue, is to join the ed forum, if you have not done so already. Alternatively, start another forum.
That can be done here through forumotion, or through any of these:
https://www.proboards.com/create-free-forum
https://mywebforum.com
https://www.createaforum.com
There are probably a heap of other free options as well. It is not difficult to do it. I am proof of that.
As I said, I am not quite done. I have projects I am working on; one on my own, the rest with others. My personal site also has a forum with a jfk section. Unlike this forum, it will have the same lifespan as me. When the hosting fee stops, the site will disappear. But while I am still upright, if I get the urge to post anything after this closes, it will be there.

What I might do is start a new forum as Greg has suggested. I've done this before, and the JFK UNRELATED forum I had included 10,000 members. Actually it's still up, but I don't partake in that topic anymore.
Greg knows about some of my research that I haven't disclosed yet, so hopefully you guys can jump on board when this forum closes down.

Have followed Tony's work and he has recently shared some other stuff. I think this is a good idea.
