Jim Koethe and that karate chop
Sun 07 Apr 2013, 1:45 pm
As most will know, reporter Jim Koethe was killed by a karate chop. He had been doing his own investigations into the assassination with some emphasis on Ruby.
Gordon Novel claims to have paralyzed someone with a karate style chop.

Larry Crafard often bragged about his phsysique and ability to use "judo chops"

Interesting Unredacted version. "Undesirable discharge"? Ignoring the easy jokes, WTF?
"Oversexed" and made her "want to puke"? I'm really beginning to believe he knew he'd be leaving Dallas on November 23, Greg. I think the "Dear Gale..." letter may have been part of his ruse.
"Loner" "Nuts" "Didn't want discuss, even in a general way, activities which took place while he was hitchhiking from Texas to Michigan in November." Everyone seemed surprised he made it all way between Texas and Michigan in two days whilst hitchhiking. He is described as being fortunate.
He hitchhiked nearly a thousand miles in two days, Greg.

Yeah, I noticed that. It was not part of what was redacted in the duplicate file.
Here is a definition of "undesirable discharge"
http://definitions.uslegal.com/u/undesirable-discharge/
In his WC testimony, he claimed a "general" discharge under honorable conditions.
One problem with Crafard's testimony is that his evidence was taken 2 months prior to the damning interview with his cousin.
In reading his testimony... you find that the authorities learned about his cousin because he had left a first draft of his letter to her in his digs at the Carousel.
And more... just about everybody else learned his full name and his cousins name and address from a reply letter from his cousin.
And tried to contact him through her for the trial... a situation which even the WC found implausible. Did they memorise or copy her address - if so, why?
Mr. HUBERT. How did they come to go to your aunt's?
Mr. CRAFARD. When I was in Dallas, I had got a letter from my cousin, I had left the envelope laying when I left there. They found her address.
Mr. HUBERT. You mean Roberts?
Mr. CRAFARD. No; my aunt's niece, Mickey--my aunt's daughter.
Mr. HUBERT. What is her name?
Mr. CRAFARD. Gail Eaton.
Mr. HUBERT. She is the one who lives in Harrison?
Mr. CRAFARD. Yes.
Mr. HUBERT. She had written you or you had written her?
Mr. CRAFARD. I had wrote her, and then she had wrote me.
Mr. HUBERT. The letter you wrote to her I don't think you mailed.
Mr. CRAFARD. I mailed a couple of them. One or two anyway.
Mr. HUBERT. I think you left one behind, didn't you?
Mr. CRAFARD. I might have; I am not sure.
Mr. HUBERT. Had you been connected by anybody to appear at the trial prior to the time you left the North American Drilling Company?
Mr. CRAFARD. Eva Grant's sister had wrote to my cousin, Mrs. Eaton, wanting information as to my whereabouts so they could locate me.
Mr. GRIFFIN. How did Eva Grant know where to look for you?
Mr. CRAFARD. I am not sure except for the fact, like I say, I had left an envelope with my cousin's address at the Carousel.
Mr. HUBERT. Andy knew your last name, didn't he?
Mr. CRAFARD. I believe so.
Mr. GRIFFIN. How did Andy come to learn your last name?
Mr. CRAFARD. I believe on this same occasion with the letter.
Mr. HUBERT. Did you search around to see that you had done all that needed to be done?
Mr. CRAFARD. I knew I had everything that I wanted to take with me. I left a couple old shirts and a pair of old pants, I believe, that I left there.
Mr. HUBERT. And you left the book?
Mr. CRAFARD. Yes.
Mr. HUBERT. What about that letter that you had written to Gale?
Mr. CRAFARD. I don't even recall a letter that I had wrote to her that I had left there.
Mr. HUBERT. Did you know that there was a letter there with your aunt's address on it?
Mr. CRAFARD. I had received a letter, but I believe I had threw the envelope into the waste basket or something like that.
Mr. HUBERT. How long before you left had you received that letter?
Mr. CRAFARD. I think it had been probably about a week, I'm not sure.
Mr. HUBERT. Did it stay in the wastebasket all that time?
Mr. CRAFARD. I think I had it lay on my desk, on the table there, for a couple days, 3 or 4 days, or something like that.
Mr. HUBERT. And then threw it in the wastepaper basket?
Mr. CRAFARD. Yes; the wastebasket wouldn't have gotten empty until I emptied it, and I wouldn't have emptied it until it was full.
Mr. HUBERT. Did anyone else know about your aunt, her address in Harrison?
Mr. CRAFARD. I believe Jack and Andy both knew that I had received a letter from my cousin.
Mr. HUBERT. Your aunt and cousin? Well, it is Gail?
Mr. CRAFARD. Gail, Miss Eaton.
Mr. HUBERT. How did they know that? How do you remember that they knew that?
Mr. CRAFARD. Well, the fact, the reason I remember it, there was some mail in on Jack's desk for one of the guys and he told me to bring it out by the cash register on the front desk and give it to them when I went in, and when I went and got it there was this letter addressed to me. I said something to Jack because he hadn't give it to me and he said he didn't know that was my name, and Andy was there when I said something.
Mr. HUBERT. Have you any reason to believe that he or Andy made a record of your aunt's address?
Mr. CRAFARD. No
Mr. HUBERT. When you left, then, so far as you knew, no one was aware of your aunt's address or of Gail Eaton's address?
Mr. CRAFARD. That is right.
Mr. HUBERT. You had forgotten that the envelope was in the wastepaper basket?
Mr. CRAFARD. Yes; I had said something to one of the waitresses about my cousin in Michigan, about where she had lived in Michigan, that she lived in Harrison.
Mr. HUBERT. Which one of the waitresses did you say that to?
Mr. CRAFARD. I believe there was two of them there at the time. I think it was Bonnie and Little Marg, Marjory.
Mr. HUBERT. You had told them that you had a cousin called Gail?
Mr. CRAFARD. Yes.
Mr. HUBERT. And that she lived in Harrison?
I think your suspicions are entirely justified. It seems Ruby and his sister knew exactly who to contact.
And he "accidentally" left enough evidence for the authorities to suggest a semi-plausible explanation for his sudden departure.
Oh and don't you love this after reading what his cousin said?
Mr. HUBERT. How close a cousin was that to you, a first cousin?
Mr. CRAFARD. A first cousin.
Mr. HUBERT. Was there any sort of affection between you?
Mr. CRAFARD. Yes; there was.
I mean according to his cousin, he was an oversexed religious fanatic who bragged about his physique and ability with judo chops and who got some sort of pleasure out of torturing female breasts.
He lusted after a first cousin, had been discharged from the army early over unspecified medical or behavioral issues, his brother- in-law was doing time for weapons theft, and.... ?

Greg,
The testimony of Karen Bennett Carlin has something rather interesting in it.
Have you ever read a more tortured piece of testimony, barring Helen Markham and Bonkers Bledsoe before? Talk about leading the witness...
Mr. HUBERT. Let me put it this way. Perhaps we can arrive at it this way. How long before the death of the President did you start to work for Mr. Ruby?
Mrs. CARLIN. I don't know. I would say about 2 months. I hadn't been there very long.
...
Mr. HUBERT. I might add that this man Larry's full name was Curtis Laverne Crafard.
Mrs. CARLIN. Yes. That was a little young boy, the one that worked the lights.
Mr. HUBERT. He stayed on the premises?
Mrs. CARLIN. Yes. But he stayed next door most of the time. I know he was sleeping there for a while, but Jack put a stop to it.
Mr. HUBERT. You mean Jack wouldn't let him sleep in the club?
Mrs. CARLIN. Jack didn't like him sleeping there, because there was too many things gone.
Mr. HUBERT. Then he made him go next door?
Mrs. CARLIN. He went next door. I don't know who was next door or what it was next door, but he went next door.
Mr. HUBERT. But what you heard was that this man had, Crafard, Curtis Laverne Crafard had been staying on the premises, but that Jack had put a stop to it and made him move to some place next door, but you don't know which next door?
Mrs. CARLIN. Yes.
Mr. HUBERT. Who did you hear this from?
Mrs. CARLIN. It was from Larry. He was taking care of the dogs or something.
Mr. HUBERT. He told you he had to move out?
Mrs. CARLIN. Yes.
Mr. HUBERT. Out of the premises altogether?
Mrs. CARLIN. No. He Just said, "I am going to have to move. I can't stay here. I don't know where I am going to get the money, but I am going to have to move."
Mr. HUBERT. That must have happened just before the assassination of the President?
Mrs. CARLIN. Yes. After that I didn't see Larry no more.
Mr. HUBERT. So to your knowledge he never did actually move, but Just said he was going to have to move, and he informed you that Jack had told him he would have to move?
Mrs. CARLIN. Yes.
Mr. JACKSON. When you say move, you mean move out at night and not sleep there?
Mrs. CARLIN. Yes.
Mr. HUBERT. That is what I meant, to move next door, I think is what you meant?
Mrs. CARLIN. Yes

Hmmm. Someone thought Larry's church (a Mormon breakaway cult) was behind the assassination.

Hey, nothing to do with you. There's just no end to explaining what is right in front of everyone's faces. Every detail, every date, every word, bickered over, manipulated, moved, changed, morphed...
I'll be honest with you, I don't think any aspect of the case has become clearer to me in such a short space of time, yet the resistance is stronger than any other incident I have ever broached.

No worries.
I did just catch up with what's been happening at the EF.
Like I said to Hasan on the other thread, I am puzzled as to why it is just the three of us that have pegged Crafard as Yates HH.
Please do take a break if you need to. Better that then see you burn yourself out.

Sean is taking me round in circles, man. Like the whole thing hinges on the Houston & Elm drop off.
None of the fucking dates or times match. Ralph held back information about Jack Ruby. No one backed him up about being over in Oak Cliff and he couldn't have dropped the hiker off where he said he dropped him off AND tell Jones about it when Jones said he told him because the times don't add up. It's impossible.
Something else happened. Everyone is making a big fucking deal about Houston & Elm as if its on some spiritual lay-lines. When in fact it was the natural place to drop someone off if you were going to Irving or giving the pretence that you went to Irving.
It's all good though because the timings are just innocent memories gone askew.
The changes to the 12/10 report - innocent - just Ralph being clear.
Ralph adding the name Ruby was originally just an embellishment. Now he withheld it to protect his family.

Sorry mate, I left you with the impression that it was Sean.
Richard implied this was the case:
Richard Gilbride wrote:
This 2038 Commerce refrigeration company address throws a whole new light on this subject. My guess would be that Yates was cagey about what day it was directly because of Ruby, whom Yates certainly would have learned operated an establishment right down the street.
