JFK on SBS
Tue 19 Nov 2013, 10:03 pm
just watched a show called JFK on SBS here in Oz.
Straight after doing its darndest to paint JFK as a being on his last legs-health wise and only barely able to hobble around without a little pep pill from Dr Feelgood, they launched into him him having sex with anything that moved. and some things that didn't. I mean, the person they described with a veritable medical encyclopedia of complaints, popping both mainstream prescribed medication ON TOP OF Dr Feelgood's fare, is just not capable of humping 24/7 as they then seem to suggest he did. I mean - fuck - they really do like an each way bet. Either people will believe he was a medical basket-case - or they'll believe he was unfaithful to Jacki at any and every opportunity. It would take a special kind of idiot to except BOTH versions of the man because the first portrait rules the second one out.
But unfortunately, those very special idiots are out there.

Didn't the drugs he was taking for his various medical ailments actually also increase his libido?

Is that what you've heard, Ian?ianlloyd wrote:Didn't the drugs he was taking for his various medical ailments actually also increase his libido?
The alleged concoction offered by Dr. Feelgood included amphetamine. There is only qualitative evidence to suggest increased libido with the use of amphetamine.
In addition to the far from certain affect on libido, Dr Feelgood's concoctions also allegedly contained "other weird substances including animal placentas". Who knows what was it in, or what overall effect it had. I mean, you can make up whatever suits what you're trying to sell. As evidenced below..."2 Human Studies
2.1 There have been several studies of heterosexual and homosexual behaviour, including high HIV-risk practices, among chronic amphetamine users, with conflicting results. In a clinical review, Miczek & Tidey[ii] found "Most often... amphetamines disrupt social, sexual, maternal, and aggressive behavior patterns in a dose-dependent manner; neither tolerance nor sensitization appears to develop to these disruptive effects".
2.2 Our own IDMU surveys have found enhancement of sex by amphetamine to be a commonly reported "best drug experience". However these results have yet to be analysed in detail and, as open ended questions, provide qualitative rather than quantitative data, and are of the nature of anecdotal reports.

According to the latest character assassination book, not only did this concoction increase his libido, it also led him to suffer "psychotic reactions" and "hyper-grandiose paranoia" and so the the CIA, the FBI, the Pentagon and Vice-President Lyndon Johnson had him killed for those reasons.

Anyone of course, is free to believe whatever shit they want...

I've read somewhere about the medication for Addison's Disease increasing libido, not the "Dr Feelgood concoctions".

Dallek, whose character assassinations just never end when it comes to JFK, claimed this was his drug regimen:
The medical records reveal that Kennedy variously took codeine, Demerol and methadone for pain; Ritalin, a stimulant; meprobamate and librium for anxiety; barbiturates for sleep; thyroid hormone; and injections of a blood derivative, gamma globulin, a medicine that combats infections.
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=125593
Even though Dallek claims JFK had Addison's, there is not one single thing on that list that is given to Addison's patients.
Moreover, the British Medical Journal advises doctors to suspect Addison's disease if a patient's symptoms worsen after thyroid hormone is given for suspected hypothyroidism.
http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/323/7308/332
So IF the list of medications is accurate (and I trust Dallek as much as I do a rat with a gold tooth), then it seems he was actually being treated for back pain and suspected hypothyroidism - with other drugs thrown in to combat side effects of the drugs and symptoms of low thyroid.
I think I'll leave the last word to someone who actually knew JFK - Ted Sorenson -
He was a man in very good health," said Kennedy adviser Ted Sorenson told ABCNEWS. "There is no doubt about the fact that he had a bad back, as millions of men do, sometimes it hurt worse than others."
His aides attributed any visible problem to a war injury. When the president rode a cherry picker to board Air Force One, it was just because of a sore back, not the fact he couldn't climb a stair.

I've seen this one. And it is exactly as you described. I've always remembered it just for those very reasons. He was having sex with 4-5 strange women every day (whilst running the country) and he was about to keel over and die at any second, all red and sweaty and weak at the knees and breathing hard. Not only that but he had his finger hovering over the big red button. He could die at any moment from all his sex and disease and illicit drug use and even worse he could hit the button as he hit the floor dead. He was going to kill himself and take us all with him, and he would probably be laughing like a maniac as he did it.
Really really really bad.
Really really really bad.

And totally nonsensical as you so well hint at... BUT IT WORKS. PEOPLE ACTUALLY BELIEVE IT EVEN WHEN ONE STORY THREAD TOTALLY CONTRADICTS THE OTHER!Frankie Vegas wrote:I've seen this one. Okay. I've taken a deep breath and I'm calm again.
Can someone pass me the pills?
Or a blonde?
