the tether on the 6th floor window

Here is an interesting piece of evidence that seems to have been mostly overlooked, I can't find any scuttlebutt on this.
This is Warren Commission Exhibit 482, it's a close-up of 481, showing the 6th floor window in the book depository.

You can clearly see the tether holding the window up, yes?
My question is: what happened to the tether? Has anyone talked about this piece of evidence, considered it.... um... catalogued it, documented it...... dusted it for fingerprints?
What happened to it? Do we know what the DPD did with it?
Is there any discussion of this tether at all, in the official documentation?
(Forgive me if I'm asking a n00b question, I can't find anything on this in the scuttlebutt so far).

It's okay, Brian. I forgive you for asking a n00b question. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to it.
