Deceptions and Errors of Fact: The Early Lives of Harvey and Lee

The first article is titled  The Early Lives of Harvey and Lee

• His father died shortly after his birth. Incorrect. His father died 2 months prior to Lee's birth
  

• Warren Commission attorneys Albert Jenner and John Ely questioned 31 year old John Pic about different home addresses when the family lived in New Orleans. Pic, who was 12 years old in 1944, was asked about 10 different addresses for Marguerite Oswald during a two year period. Pic, however, recalled only two of these addresses. Pic was in Bethlehem Orphanage in 1943-44 and then at the Military Academy in Mississippi from  1945. He had no way of keeping track of all of his mother's moves. Armstrong not only fails to mention this, but is using the lack of recall to impute deception or mystery regarding Marguerite. He does this with the sentence following the one quoted "This was the beginning of many unexplained addresses for Marguerite Oswald during the next 20 years." In what way are the addresses "unexplained" other than Pic's inability to recall them? And why do they need explaining? Armstrong does not say. But making the statement does add to the overall picture of "something" not right.
  

• On February 12, 1946,  LEE Oswald was admitted to the Harris County Hospital for a mastoidectomy, which left young LEE with a large scar on the left side of his neck. Mastoidectomy operations do not leave "large scars". The unwritten subtext is that they are easily discernible, so its lack of visibility at the first autopsy was "evidence" it was a different person. But the reality is, they are neither large nor discernible to the naked eye. From a 1967 history of such operations: "use a U-shaped incision with its base set posteriorly . The upper part is horizontal in the hair line and gives full access to the attic. The posterior curved portion is also in the hair line, so that any degree of mastoid pneumatization is accessible, as well as the temporal and sternomastoid muscles. The inferior limb of the U is extended downwards in one of the creases invariably found behind the pinna at the level of the lobule. In a few months the scar is invisible."
  

• Marguerite and LEE returned to Ft. Worth and moved into Ekdahl's apartment on 8th Avenue. Seven year old LEE, shown above right riding his tricycle, was enrolled at nearby Lilly Clayton Elementary school on January 27 in Lois Lowimore's first grade class. what Armstrong missed is perhaps, a real mystery, rather than one of his contrived ones. Lee is indeed enrolled at Lily Clayton, but the only "parent" listed on the record is Edwin Ekdahl.
  

• While talking to a neighbor, Marguerite learned that an unknown woman had been living with Ekdahl while she was living in Covington, LA. On Feb 1, 1947 she she confronted Ekdahl, accused him of infidelity, and threw a bottle at him. On March 17, while arguing with her husband, Marguerite severely scratched him on his left arm and pounded on his chest. A few weeks later (on or about April 3) in another argument with Ekdahl, she threw a cookie jar at him. On May 9, 1947 Marguerite threw a glass at Edkahl, and narrowly missed striking him on the head. What Armstrong does not say is that Marguerite testified to the Warren Commission that all of these incidents were recalled at the divorce trial by friends of Ekdahl none of whom she had ever even met. It is doubtful in the extreme that Marguerite would do all of these things in the presence of others. Theses stories were as contrived as the marriage itself and merely served to ensure the divorce would be granted.
  

• NOTE: The dates of arguments and physical confrontation between Marguerite and Ekdahl were noted in Ekdahl's personal diary, which he brought to court during their divorce. No he never.  The judgement handed down states of those incidents that they happened "on or about" whatever date. That alone shows the court had no diary to go from. Armstrong is making stuff up as he goes along.
  

• One day Marguerite telephoned Ekdahl's office to advise that Mr. Ekdahl's return from an out-of-town trip would be delayed for 3 or 4 days. The secretary, however, told Marguerite "Mr. Ekdahl is not in, he has gone out to lunch." Marguerite then drove the car to Ekdahl's office, waited, and saw him leave the building. She followed Ekdahl to an apartment house and saw him go into one of the apartments. Marguerite then drove home and told John Pic, her oldest son, what had happened. Marguerite, John Pic, and two of his friends--Marvin and Sammy--got into the car and drove to the apartment house. Sammy knocked on the door of the apartment and pretended to have a telegram for "Mrs. Clary." When "Mrs. Clary" opened the door to receive the telegram Marguerite pushed her way into the apartment. Mr. Ekdahl was sitting on the couch and Mrs. Clary was wearing a nightgown negligee. Marguerite made a big fuss, and she and Ekdahl once again separated. This is further evidence that the divorce was just the undoing of a sham marriage. Firstly, Mrs Clary was the mother of  Fred, a friend of Robert.  Secondly, the state of dress/undress in which the pair were said to have been discovered is almost EXACTLY the scenario recommended by all divorce lawyers of the day in order to get the divorce through.  The only reason I say "almost" exactly is because the negligee is usually pink, not the blue Marguerite said. 
  

• NOTE: Following the assassination of President Kennedy the FBI conducted a background search on Edwin Ekdahl. Their report states, "Records do not indicate where Ekdahl worked from 1943 to 1953. The company (EBASCO Services) will not be able to furnish this information." The only other identifying information included was Ekdahl's social security number which was 001-09-9471.  This is another blatant attempt at creating a false mystery. [url=https://maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=10548&relPageId=3&search=ebasco_and ekdahl]The report[/url] clearly states that the records were retrieved from microfilm (the very thing Armstrong claims was not widely used for another year or two). In transferring archival employment records to microfilm, you keep only those records that might be legally required for any future audits or to preserve relevant or important historical information about the company. EBASCO had no reason to keep records of the various locations Ekdahl was sent to work. But it does not matter. we know at least during his time in Fort Worth he worked out of the offices of Texas Electric Service Company (TESCO) Building at 408 West Seventh - directly opposite Fred Korth's law office. We know because a number of other documents say so. No mystery!

When they've no more bushes to scurry under or bolt holts to hide down when the going gets tough, finally they'll be dragged out into the sunlight..the wonderful cleansing rays might free us all from the darkness and confusion of H and L.

As an aside I think that Jack White's work on the faces of Oswald was the spark which set alight Armstrong's work. White sometime about the time he worked as a consultant for the HSCA in the late '70's produced a work which included a poster of eight various photographs of Oswald's face between the years 1959 and 1963. He went onto produce a poster which allegedly included 77 photographs of Oswald's face from his childhood years through to his adult life right up to 1963. Jack white and Armstrong would at some point become acquainted and share their ideas. It is my belief that Whites poster of the 77 photos allegedly of Oswald's face grabbed Armstrong's attention. He started to produce, at first abstract material of a dual identity cover-up mostly for non mainstream publications around 1994-1995 possibly a little earlier. I believe he joined forces with White on the issue and started to formulate a theory based on Jack's photographic work. In my view it was Armstrong who then proceeded to twist and fabricate the testimony, any he could locate that would agree with Whites claim that the Oswald's face's in his poster were not that of the same person.
