This "Undergraduate FBI" makes it into Vol 3 of LHOCW after leaving traces of it's spooky ectoplasm over one of the real mysteries in this case (as opposed to the non-event mysteries abundant in certain books).

The term “leftist activity” here is interesting. I suppose one could make good arguments for the demonising of communism in the Cold War US, a supposed democracy – though one could probably also make good counter arguments.
But demonising “leftist activity” – a term that covers a multitude – seems like fascism in all but name.
