Ozzie's Blues

Wrote this in May of '02...
OZZIE'S BLUES
Hostilities came to the fore, but nobody cared any more
for a war to end war, so a truce was declared
on Dubya Dubya Three
And it ends in surrender, inside of a theatre,
where guns are drawn right there on the screen
To stay in the game, one needs an appetite
dem chicken bones didn't put up no fight
inside the Depository.
And it ends in a forage, inside a garage
where arms and small children ought not to be
And they called it a Cold War for all of its glory
where the battle was pitched not in the field but in the story
outside of real history.
And it ends in amazement inside of a basement
under the glare of the world, how long can 15 minutes of fame be?
Now the survivors survive, but they never quite live;
they say kings come & go, and when they want to be glib,
it's called in the name of security.
And it ends in formation of a blue-ribbon commission
and twenty-six volumes to hide the key.

Can't be better expressed. 2002? Well, that's one year after 2001. As a native American, I have to salute the international interest in President Kennedy. The perspective from a far shore can be much more revealing & objective; similar to what a Bostonian like myself sees, that is different than a Texan.
