He also supplied some possible contact numbers for the person he thinks was her husband. I'll forward those details privately.

Sorry to pass this on here, but I have had it with the Ed Forum. Don continually tries to put words in my mouth and lecture me about things I have never done instead of the person who is actually guilty of them - and now Martin proving that Pat Speer lied about him, along with John Simkin's publicly stated support for this pair... well, my admiration for John is no longer enough to keep me there. He clearly has no interest in what's really going on. In his mind, civility (even of the insincere variety) is more important than honesty and fairness. But I will not continually be kicked in the teeth and told I must smile about it. I will not be accused of things I have not done, and nor will I condone hypocrisy.

End of rant.

Got too much on my plate and that's been the case for quite a while.

Given the above, why stay in a place that is shit scared to take action against someone spitting out libel or bile on almost a daily basis?

Why stay in a place where this type of hypocrisy is not just condoned, but applauded as good moderation?

While it is not the business of the moderators to write down or publicly review their every decision, I remember the disappointment I felt when first reading the Bledsoe on the bus thread that set up the current situation. I was annoyed that Lifton, who had, years earlier, sent me an insulting email expressing outrage over my recent appearance at a Lancer conference, was now giving the same treatment to others on the forum. As I read through the thread, however, it became clear that Lee and others had chosen to retaliate against Lifton, and had not chosen the high road. The question then became what to do. As the moderators, as a whole, prefer to stay out of squabbles, beyond removing the occasional L word, or F bomb, and as Lifton, who had undoubtedly been insulting to Farley, had undoubtedly gotten the worst of it, I decided to let it pretty much run its course. (I may have removed an insulting post or two, I frankly don't remember.) In any event, I was in contact with Lee shortly after this and told him he shouldn't let such things drive him from the forum.

And then on the following day

Perhaps the hole in the O-Zone has thinned out your skin, I don't know. But you should feel honored, in my opinion, when Lifton, or Thompson, or Mack, etc takes the time to read what you've written, and tell you you are wrong. You can always write-off their comments as those of someone stuck in their ways. Most do.

These quotes prove he'll say anything at all to justify whatever crap is being piled on.

I still believe John Simpkin is a decent man, but I am also now convinced it is true that he puts "civility" above all else. Even when it's just affected. I cannot - and will not - do that.

I won't be far behind you. I'm waiting for the long awaited results of the VOTE and I'm packing my bags.

These bust-ups give the site quite a bit of traffic and I refuse to be part of it anymore.

It'll probably be the best thing for me personally. I want to write a couple of short articles and keep putting them off because I keep spending my spare time to that forum.

I'm still trying to finish my first chapter (on Columbia and Panama), but I'm happy with what I have. Am just getting into WWII smuggling of platinum out of Columbia which seems to be virtually unchartered waters in any history books at all. Am developing information that the the platinum was smuggled out via Spain with help of Spanish Falangists (Fascists) to go to the German war effort in return for Germany's help with their own internal problems. There are all sorts of implications in this involving on the one extreme, Juan Roa Sierra - patsy in Gaitan hit - and possible US involvement in the smuggling itself (enabling of) - (pre US entering of war).

And a possible connection between a certain "Zonian" and a family member of a certain baby-sitter.

Your book sounds really interesting, Greg and you're right - angles that haven't been discussed before.
