LHO's noncommissioned officer at El Toro. When interviewed by NYT on 12/11/63, Spahr "...said that Oswald 'was my personal problem' during that time. [El Toro] Not even his mother knew him like I did," said Mr. Spahr, who has been in the Marine Corps 22 years. "Although he gave a lengthy statement to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about Oswald, he declined to give specifics to a reporter."

Why wasn't Spahr called to testify?

And what has happened to his "lengthy statement" given to the FBI?

I have searched MFF and NARA - nada. 

FWIW as an aside, Spahr flew missions against the Japanese in WWII and also served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Yet his gravestone is not much better than that of a family pet.

It's a bloody joke Greg, that's what it is. It's a disgrace that these people were not called to testify and to have documents disappear. Each Government committee or board has had their chance over the years to put this thing to bed in a truthful and honest way. All of them have failed in their duties miserably.

also let me add that the story in the New York Times is specific about what help Spahr gave to Oswald. It was help in obtaining his early discharge. Which of course, should have made him a CERTAINTY for a call up before the WC.

has to fit in somehow, but since he is not mentioned by any other Marine who was ever interviewed about Oswald, and his own "lengthy" interview with the FBI has gone  missing, it's impossible to say how he fots into the picture.

All we can do is speculate that he was either bullshitting to the newspaper or he told the FBI things that the authorities did not want known.

FBI report regarding interviews with Marine Corps personnel who knew Lee Oswald.

Problem remains that I cannot find an FBI report in any of the three spellings.

Yep, zero zip nada.

I think it's clear as near as I can tell that the three differently spelled names as written in various publications were all in reference to E J Spahr.







Thornely in this last piece is speaking of his time in MAX9 with Oswald. About the same time that E J Spahr claims in the newspaper article from the New York Times that he'd known Oswald better than his mother.

It would seem that Spar, Sparr and Spahr were in reference to the same person
