ID of the two Secret Service agents who gave Braden a ride
Wed 26 Aug 2020, 4:02 am
Jim Braden/Brading was picked up in Dealey Plaza right after the shooting and was taken to the Sheriff's office. He was there for a few hours and finally gave a statement.
According to his testimony, he asked, "How am I going to get back to my hotel?"
Braden testified that, just a few hours earlier, he had been looking for a cab. Suddenly he forgot about the availability of taxis in downtown Dallas and needed a lift?
Magically, Braden was given a ride back to his hotel by two Secret Service agents.
Who were those agents, does anyone know? Did they give anyone else a personal ride that day?

Art,
Could it simply have been a courtesy ride back to Braden's hotel? They did drag him down to the police department. Maybe they felt guilty, or maybe the Secret Service agents were heading somewhere along the way and offered him a ride.

It's possible that a few agents who were still in Dallas (after many of them left to head back to DC) had so little to do that they would give a suspicious guy a ride to his hotel. There's just something about it that feels off to me.
Also possible they gave him a ride to make sure his story held water, that he was an actual guest at that hotel and not some random guy making up a story.
Just a little odd that there's no mention of this ride in any Secret Service testimony. I was under the impression they were required to detail all of their movements, especially on that day.

I'm sure there is a lot of information missing from Secret Service reports, despite orders to commit it all to paper. I guess it may be possible to at least narrow it down by identifying those at the Sheriff's office (from memory, that is where Braden was taken?) Where was he staying?

Marty,
as at around three o'clock, it appears there were no Secret Service agents in the Sheriffs Office because they sound pretty desperate to get ahold of any USSS agents at all.

Do we know what time Braden was released?

Greg, great find with that audio log. According to Braden, he was in the Sheriff's office for three or four hours. So I estimate he left somewhere between 4 and 5 o'clock.
Remember that he was staying at the Cabana Motel with other men -- they were all supposed to remain in Dallas until the next day. Instead, they all checked out by 2 pm, leaving Braden behind.
