James Leon Arthus
Mon 28 Sep 2020, 11:44 am
James Leon ARTHUS
Janitor at 544 Camp Street, New Orleans
This post is for documents and information on James Arthus his dealings with Fair Play For Cuba Committee, Flyers, Pamphlets, and the Ink Stamps on the Pamphlets.
Its my belief there were no FPCC handbills stamped 544 CAMP ST.
Only a 30 page pamphlet stamped on page 29.
Quite different than the extant evidence would lead us to believe.
The Pamphlets were older, they were printed in 1961.
Arthus was later convicted in another pamphleting case. So he is historically involved in such campaigns.
544 Camp Street was Arthus address, as he lived in:
A) The basement in an "apartment"
B) Upstairs next to Oswald's office in an empty office.
Technically 544 Camp is not a full address without a suite or office number.
Guy Banisters office was addressed as 531 Lafayette.
Arthus is said to have kept (or simply had) FPCC flyers he would leave on Guys desk.
This infuriates Banister.
Although claim by Delphine Roberts was Guy balled out Arthus and building owner, a Mr Newman.
I do not see Guy yelling at Arthus & Newman over something Oswald handed out (even if addressed 544 Camp)
I believe Delphine witnesses this but attributed it to Oswald.
Delphine made differing statements but if we remove Oswald from those claims I think we get closer to the truth.
I will post a document dump here so a better understanding or picture emerges.
Cheers, Ed

First Doc lists Sergio Arcacha Smith as
"may have lived at 544 Camp St."
Seems offices were used to "stay" in overnight.
A point that of course goes to Arthus' accommodations and or usage of an office (empty upstairs, one of three empty)
Last document is of French resistance and a J. Arthus who was martyred for Pamphlets, espionage and eventually sabotage against Nazis.
Something the individuals whom knew James Arthus said about him too.
Guy, Delphine and Arthus all shared anti communism anti nazism traits.
Anything on Delphine's daughters photography studio she ran out of one of the (empty?) upstairs offices would be most welcomed.
Cheers, Ed

Arthus is an interesting figure. Ed, I see you posted the passages from Jeffrey Caulfield's General Walker about him and his predilection for activities that would put one on the Secret Service's radar as a verifiable threat to the president, within the purview of their PRS-- especially the mailing of the dead pigeon to the White House with his actual return address. Could there be a more foolproof way to get the Secret Service's attention short of an actual attempt?
Couple Arthus with David Ferrie, whose off-the-rails VFW speech could very well have alerted the same PRS, and Guy Banister and Clay Shaw (both of whom reputedly threatened the president's life) and it seems like all these people LHO associated with had something in common besides being far-rightists: they were active threats to President Kennedy who had threatened his life and even made public statements announcing their intent to get him. It seems to me like Oswald was seeking them out, like a collector of individuals threatening JFK.
If Right-wing threats to JFK's life were Pokemon, LHO seems like he was on a quest to catch 'em all.
That through-line connects LHO to General Walker as well; Walker being the best-known far-right threat to JFK.

Thanks Roger.
Arthus is quite the janitor.
The pigeon in a box could be to get him out of any
'duties' when the president comes to town.
Arthus choice of fowl defined his views on JFK's future.
Dead pigeons are omens.
Of note James Arthus's mother's maiden name is Tujague.
As in Gerald F. Tujague Inc.
Cheers, Ed
