Dealey Plaza Re-development
Tue 22 Nov 2022, 12:55 pm
Hi again!
Haven't had time to trawl through the posts here so don't know whether someone has posted about this. In case you haven't heard there's a proposal to redevelop Dealey Plaza. Larry Hancock has told me while the development proposed won't erase history per se, the research community is nonetheless opposed to this, and legal means are being explored to preserve the plaza as it is. I only found out about this yesterday and I'm sharing it here for those that would like to know what is going on:

There's also discussion on this at the Ed Forum and Larry kindly provided the link:

Cheers,

Seems more like a monument to the assassins than to Kennedy. We took the life and now we render the plaza dead as well. The little white light in the street should be as red as his head was.
I don't think I like this idea. Can you tell?

Nothing should change - until the facts are finally acknowledged.
Jackie showed us that is the way it should be when she refused to change her blood-splattered dress for Johnson's inauguration.
You know it's bullshit when they hit you with something like this "a vision of transforming this site into a space of civic memory and understanding that embraces the past and points to the future."
When "civic memory" is created by gaslighting populations, the future you're pointing to leads to a cliff.
When this case is closed - truly closed - then maybe that sentence can stand and that vision will mean something.

Is this any different from giving the whole thing a new look so it is all swept under the rug...?

Quite honestly I think the master plan here is to turn it into an urban dead zone that will eventually result in full scale redevelopment. Look for a plaque in the lobby of Dealey Towers.
All those bleachers will empty as a socket and the plaza will be empty too but for a few tourists. There will be homeless and crime at night.
Eventually the bleachers and all will be sold for a high price to developers of this valuable property.
It's probably a done deal.

Quite a terrible idea. Hope there will be enough public pressure to stop it.

Looks and sounds counter-intuitive to me. They have their Goose - best leave things alone I'd reckon.
