wayne january and redbird

what gets omitted... isn't all on Bugliosi's side of the debate...
It is claimed January was "amazed" when told by author Matthew Smith that the "Oswald" incident was noted in the FBI report as occurring in July. January was adamant it was Nov 20.
Bullshit he was amazed.
The FBI as part of its investigation also interviewed PL Newman of UPI over a story he published citing an un-named source that Oswald had tried to charter a flight at Redbird during the summer. He gave the name Wayne January as his source. As a result, January was reinterviewed.

"January reiterated the fact that the man who approached him last summer regarding this charter flight was definitely not Lee Harvey Oswald..." He goes on to repeat that the man who looked like Oswald was seated in the car the whole time.

Anyone accusing Bugliosi of not supplying all relevant data needs to explain why they themselves never mention the above documents.
The only way around these documents for defenders of January is to claim that the FBI doctored reports on January not once - but twice - AND that they doctored a newspaper story, changing "November 20" to "the Summer".
And for January to claim he never told ANYONE his "Oswald" sighting was in the Summer, you have to explain why the FBI would even bother reinterviewing him. The FBI only risked exposing their duplicity by doing so. I mean... if January never told the reporter, the event happened in the Summer... he is going to tell the FBI that the story is wrong - that it was "November 20 just like I told you guys before". If they had a doctored version of the story showing November 20 - then what was the point of reinterviewing at all - since they already knew it was November 20 - even if they did change that to "the Summer" in the documentation.
This, along with the Yates fiasco, are two outstanding examples of why this "community" has stagnated and gone nowhere.
It's a total fuckup.

Jimmy di has in part responded
And I agree.
It was late and I was in a grumpy mood from dealing with the Yates story. I did not notice it was Larry's name appended to this. As can be seen elsewhere in this forum, I nominated Larry as one of the two people I'd choose to represent us during the 50th. That "nomination" wasn't made lightly.
That said, I am obviously very much in conflict with Larry on this particular issue.
And the reason this case is where it is today, in large part, is not because of people like Larry Hancock.

Larry's article does provide an interesting footnote:
This breakfast was at Dobb's House on Nth Beckley...
So... breakfast at 10 am
picked up by Yates at 10:30
delivers parcel/window shades/curtain rods/rifle to depository at 10:40
then off to Redbird Airport to speak to January about chartering a plane.
The life of an Oswald Impersonator is never easy. You are always on the move.
January gave the date of this incident as November 20; perhaps coincidentally November 20 is the one morning that Oswald was reported as being seen away from the TSBD, seen having breakfast at 10 AM. HSCA Vol, 12, p. 37
