Artie Wayne remembers watching the zap film on 11/22

As the surreal events unfold, I have images forever etched in my memory, including the entire 8mm Abraham Zapruder home movie clip of the Presidential Procession, in which the President is getting shot! The entire staff keeps watching the tape over and over again, getting more and more depressed. I don’t know how Clay managed to hold everything together…but he did.

Ruby related that in late 1941 he returned to Chicago and continued his business of selling punch boards, primarily through mail orders. He mentioned an advertisement was run in Billboard magazine in this regard. He mentioned that during this period he became very closely associated with Artie Wayne, a musician.

The first one was born in 1942. The one Ruby knew was born in 1916.
The FBI tried to interview 1916 Wayne, but when they turned up at his California home, a maid told them the whole family was on an "indefinite cruise in Africa" and can be reached "care of via Vida African Mercantile Company, Mercantile House PO Box 10, Mombasa, Kenya".
There is no indication in MFF that the FBI made any further attempt to interview Wayne.

Greg, Joey Powers' song "Midnight Mary" wasn't released until January, 1964.
"Released on Amy Records in January 1964, the single peaked at number 10, just in time to see Powers’ career cut short by the onslaught of ‘Beatlemania’. All of his subsequent recordings failed to chart and he never made an album"

I suppose it's possible that Powers made a TV appearance touting his new record six weeks before it was released. But I was always under the impression that records were released first, and then if they became hits, the artist appeared on TV. Or a well-established hit recording artist could "break" a new song in simultaneously on TV and on disc. But for an unknown, it seems unlikely. Another possibility is that someone is misremembering what happened. If WPIX had the Zapruder film that day, it's hard to imagine we wouldn't have heard about it before now.

this is what the story says...
I met Clay when he had a show on WPIX-TV in New York, and I was producing Joey Powers “(Meet Me At) Midnight Mary” (Raleigh/ Wayne). Joey and I were working on his album on the weekend of November 22, 1963…
“In between the tracking and overdubbing sessions, Joey and I go down to WPIX TV, where Joey tapes the Clay Cole Dance show. Clay is old friend of Joeys’, who once worked with him as an NBC page. In between takes, the mood is dark and apprehensive, while we watch all the footage of the Kennedy assassination as it comes into the newsroom unedited.
So he is not talking about any time after the record was released. He is talking about being in the studio recording the album over the weekend of Nov 22, 1963 - which seems to fit well with the release date you gave. He goes on to say that "raw footage" was coming in and among that footage was the Zap film... which they watched "over and over again."
So it's all good for timing. The problem is his statement that the Zap film was among the "raw footage" that came in that weekend. He seems positive about that - yet from what the official story shows, it cannot be possible. So we're left with two possibilities. He is confusing the Zap film with some other footage he saw - or the official version of events surrounding what happened with the Zap film are a pack of lies.

Midnight Mary was released before 22 November, according to this local story from Joey Power's home town.:

As a youth I lived some distance from WPIX's broadcast tower (probably from the top of the Empire State Building) but we lived at the highest point in the area and receive the station's signal via a conventional roof mounted antenna.
WPIX was an independent station and it featured children's shows and old hollywood movies. I didd not think WPIX broadcast more than limited local news or even ha access to national news.
But.....

In the cathedral the four CBS-TV pool cameras had been placed to be as inconspicuous as possible. ... Seven NBC-TV cameras fed the pool from about 250 feet from the burial site. ... Network feeds picked up by hundreds of indies While the full tally is yet to be made, early reports showed that virtually all unafliliated ..

...Independent Stations Helped By Networks
According to Broadcasting, “virtually all unaffiliated television stations” in the country were allowed to tap into network feeds over the course of the four days of coverage, at no cost. ABC fed WNEW-TV, WTTG, KTTV and WGN-TV; CBS fed WOR-TV, WPIX, WNDT, KPHO-TV and KPLR-TV; NBC fed some 60 stations, including some in Canada [1].
The ABC, CBS, NBC and Mutual radio networks also serviced hundreds of unaffiliated radio stations nation-wide.
Film of Assassination Broadcast on November 26th
The famous Zapruder film that captured President Kennedy being shot was not seen on network television until March 6th, 1975 when it was aired on ABC’s late-night news magazine Good Night America, hosted by Geraldo Rivera.
A different film, this one taken by Marie Muchmore, was broadcast on WNEW-TV in New York City on Tuesday, November 26th, only four days after the assassination.
According to Broadcasting, United Press International Newsfilm sold the 8mm footage, blown up to 16mm for broadcast, to WNEW-TV and also provided copies to subscribers around the world [2]. ...

Thanks for the additional info, Tom.
The single could well have been released while the album was still in production.
As for the Zap film... the story doesn't specifically say it was broadcast - only that it came in and they watched the tape multiple times. I do think he is misremembering - but by the same token, I don't think anything he said can be disproven without further info. The decision could well have been made for instance not to broadcast the Zap film because of its graphic nature. Again - not likely - but not yet disproven.

Once again we have conflicting data. No surprise, this case is the King of Confused/Confusing Info.
