haven't had a chance to go through it all, but some new (to me) photos among the collection.

Seeing Oswald's US Marine Corps Rifle Score Book among these auction items reminds us that he qualified on an M1 rifle and M1A1 carbine. These were semi-automatic weapons. In other words, Oswald didn't have to operate a bolt to fire each shot, just squeeze the trigger. The recoil with these firearms is less than that of a bolt action (Carcano), so it's easier to stay on target, and of course, easier to shoot rapidly.greg parker wrote:haven't had a chance to go through it all, but some new (to me) photos among the collection.

Even so, Warren Commission testimony by Marine Major Anderson showed that Oswald on the shooting range scored a so-so 212 in 1956 and very low 191 in 1959 (I believe 190 was the minimum score to qualify in the 1950s). Certainly nothing remarkable here.
Now to commit the crime of the century, he had to operate a crummy bolt action rifle (that he somehow assembled incognito), a rifle that had a goofy scope stuck off to the side, a rifle with open sights set for 200 yards, a rifle that shot a heavy bullet that didn't have a flat trajectory, a rifle with some recoil. And he did all this perfectly and in record time, brilliantly compensating for the all of the ballistics shortcomings. Such a miraculous feat that nobody has been able to since replicate it.
And Bugs calls anyone questioning stuff like this "certifiably psychotic."

That's partly how the Big Lie has succeeded. And Bugs calls anyone questioning stuff like this "certifiably psychotic."
They have used every trick and every logical fallacy in the book, and they avoid like the plague 3 things: being shown to be wrong; evidence of conspiracy that they have no answer for; sane, logical, evidence-based scenarios showing conspiracy.
They will pounce on Judyth Baker, Jim Fetzer and all the fringe CT stuff, kick the crap out of it and pronounce that they have disproved all CT. They can do this because they have spent the last 50 years lumping all CT together.
This is the same reason that Judyth Baker, Jim Fetzer and the like get the lion share of media attention. The media loves fringe shit. Sometimes they don't even have to point out to their dumbed-down readership how stupid some of this stuff.
Don't get me started, Stan...
