Backyard pix

Looking again at the LHO backyard photos, specifically 133-A. The papers he is holding (Militant and Worker) are both tabloid format, ie, 11x17 inches. So you have an 11-inch ruler to accurately measure his "backyard" height, easily done in Photoshop or Gimp or similar. The result I get is around 5 feet to 5 feet 3 inches, given that the papers might not be flat against his chest, and his feet are slightly apart. Has this been done before, or am I on to something new?

Ppl have been using the rifle for the same purpose. And yes it does not add up.

Are you able to confirm that the figure in 133a BYP was holding The Militant and worker paper? Are you able to establish that beyond a doubt?
Can you also show the source material which either claims or states that the paper format was tabloid and had these exact measurements.
There is method to my madness here, sorry to sound pedantic.

Militant archive

The Militant is archived here.

As you can see, the paper switched to tabloid, 11 x 17 inches, from 30 Jan 1963. Zoom in to a good quality copy of 133-A and there is enough detail to identify it as the 11 March issue.

Software specific to measuring objects in photos.
https://www.digimizer.com/download.php
Using 11 inches as the unit measure, I get Mick's results with minimal variation (all depends how accurate you are with the lines)
Using 36 inches as the unit measure, I get the newspaper at 11 inches and Mick's give or take 5' for LHO.
Using 40.2 inches as the unit measure, the paper approaches 13 inches and LHO gets a lot closer to his 5' 9".
It's a free download. I'd recommend a number of people try it and compare results.
