Dawn's interpretive dance around a book half read

Dawn Meredith's 2013 COPA Address
Dawn opens the address with this clanger:
A few minutes after President Kennedy was shot HARVEY Oswald, wearing a long-sleeve brown shirt, left the book depository. Three women working in the Dal-Tex building directly across the street said they saw Jack Ruby give Oswald a pistol.
This is so not true, even Armstrong doesn't fully support it - yet this is supposed to be about his book!
Here is what Armstrong had said in 1998 about this incident:
How many errors can be crammed into one short paragraph?
Let's go through them:
What Armstrong wants you to believe (but carefully distances himself from at the same time), is that Oswald received the pistol that he shot Tippit with from Jack Ruby on Nov 22 after leaving the TSBD.
Here is the report he mentions. It is hearsay to the power of ?:
http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?absPageId=341224
Here is the report on the interview with Mrs Lopez
http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=10672&relPageId=455
The above report is actually the culmination of a concerted effort to track down the sauce of a rumor which commenced almost straight after the assassination. That rumor was that the 3 girls had not only seen Ruby give Oswald a pistol on Nov 22, but that they knew both men.
Here is a report showing that at least one branch of the rumor was a result of "Chinese whispers".

This thread post shows what they actually saw - and when.

Here is the report based on an interview with one of the girls:

This is a fine example of why they are afraid of "minutia". That's where the devil resides in their fairy tales. They instead, beg for readers to just drop their jaws in awe of the "big picture" bullshit pieces.
More on Dawn's presentation when next I feel the need to be nauseous.

Here is what Armstrong had said in 1998 about this incident:
But neither Dawn nor Armstrong have represented the evidence factually. On November 30th, FBI Agent Alan Manning interviewed Mrs. Evelyn Harris. In his summary of that interview, he wrote:
the daughter of Mrs. Lucy Lopez, a white woman married to a Mexican, worked at a sewing room across the street from the TSBD. Her daughter and some of the other girls knew Lee Harvey Oswald and also were acquainted with Jack Ruby. They observed Jack Ruby give Oswald a pistol when Oswald came out of the building.
This writer does not offer an opinion regarding the allegations stated in this FBI report.
How many errors can be crammed into one short paragraph?
Let's go through them:
- The incident occurred on a day prior to the assassination - possibly Nov 19
- It was not a pistol, but a rifle
- None of the girls admitted knowing Ruby or Oswald
- None could positively ID Ruby or Oswald (though general descriptions did fit)
- Lucy Lopez was not one of the witnesses. She was the MOTHER of one of the witnesses

Well, more fool me!
I missed seeing this appended to the end:
So while in 1998, Armstrong had "no opinion regarding the allegations", he seems to have come around on the side of embracing them by 2013, That's 15 years of not bothering to check the allegations out and then proceeding to make 5 substantial errors in one small paragraph about them.
We are doomed while ever this shite gets taken seriously by anyone.

The above piece is the full transcript Mr. Armstrong sent to Ms. Meredith to read on his behalf for COPA 2013. After several attempts to measure the time it would take to deliver this talk in the time allotted by John Judge, several minor cuts were made at the last minute that are not reflected here. This remains, however, essentially the exact transcript of Dawn Meredith's reading of John Armstrong's 2013 COPA speech.

Seems the Harvey and Lee story has somewhat less than the four legs it requires to stand on.
But it is something we already knew.
It is a shame that so much time and energy is spent chasing their own tails while there is still so much real research that needs to be done.
Ain't this case a hoot!
